by Mike Andrew SGN Staff Writer A Kentucky man and his transgender wife sued Amazon on August 9, charging that they endured sustained discrimination and harassment during the year they spent working at Amazon’s warehouse in north-

ern Kentucky. Dane Lane and his wife, Allegra Schawe-Lane went to work for Amazon in October 2014, and quit a year later because they found their working conditions “intolerable” their lawsuit says.

by Mike Andrew SGN Staff Writer Five transgender service members filed suit against Donald Trump and other federal officials on August 9. The five are collectively identified as “Jane Doe” in the 15-page complaint filed on their behalf by the National Center for

Lesbian Rights and GLAD (GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders). The lawsuit – now known as Doe v. Trump – charges that Trump’s tweets barring trans people from military service “upset the reasonable expectations of plaintiffs and thousands of other transgender service members and the men and women

by Shaun Knittel SGN Staff Writer The battle for equal rights for LGBTQ people around the world continues. And while we’ve enjoyed legal same-sex marriage in Washington state since 2013, and federally since 2015, it is important to note that in all reality only a small portion of the world’s population actually get the freedom to marry who they choose. Saying you want

to get married to your best friend in a country like Russia or Syria can get you killed. On August 8, Pew Research Center released the report “Countries That Allow Gay Marriage.” The authors compiled a list of nation’s that allow same-sex couples to legally wed, the year the law was passed or changed, and a paragraph or two of background about how marriage equality was achieved.
