At that time, the mission was to “develop programs and services to better the campus climate for LGB students” and to “coordinate efforts to retain LGB students at ISU.” In the fall of 1996, the LGBTSS expanded its mission offering services and outreach to students who identify under the transgender umbrella. Twenty years later, LGBTSS is committed to providing information and education that enhances the educational experience and overall quality of student life on the Iowa State University campus.
