DEAR FRIENDS, RIENDS, The past 18 months have been dominated by the health, economic, and social impacts of COVID-19. Such challenges often trigger strong feelings, such as sorrow, hopefulness, anger, and gratitude. During this time, I have become more thankful for the Pro Musica family, and I would like to share my gratitude list with you. • I am thankful for our talented staff, who worked tirelessly to uphold our mission. • I am thankful for our Board of Trustees, who opened their checkbooks and rolled up their sleeves to shepherd us through this crisis. • I am thankful for the foundations and government agencies that were flexible and generous in their support. • I am thankful for the talented musicians, who grace our stages and bestow upon us beautiful music. • I am thankful for Anne-Marie McDermott, who lights up a room with her fingers on a keyboard, as well as with her sparkling personality. • I am thankful for Andrea Cassutt, who will graciously lead Pro Musica into its fifth decade. • I am thankful for Tom O’Connor and Carol Redman, whose spirits and core values permeate Santa Fe Pro Musica. They have both been incredible role models to me, and I truly cannot thank them enough. • I am also extraordinarily thankful for you, our concert patrons. We all share a common love of music, and Santa Fe Pro Musica would not exist without you! Thank you all for being here for us. We are here for you. Warmest regards,
TIM TERELL | PRESIDENT, BOARD OF DIRECTORSTSANTA FE PRO MUSICA BOARD F TRUSTEE During the past year we worked behind the scenes to build a new season that honors the commitments to artists and ensembles whose engagements were canceled by the pandemic. With patience, deliberation, and optimism we did the careful work of imagining the 2021–22 season with a return to sharing with you the joys of live music. The pages of this program book are a roadmap to the imaginations of great composers and artists. Sometimes they merely wish to entertain us; at other times they lift our spirits with a message of our shared humanity transcending daily struggles. The wait is finally over! In celebration of our 40th anniversary, and with Pro Musica’s new artistic director, Anne-Marie McDermott, and our new executive director, Andrea Cassutt, we are gratefully returning to concert stages and live music. Patience, resilience, and optimism have been our watchwords. Now we can make our dreams come true.
