gentle rules is a series of short movements for piano four-hands. It is an ongoing series of pieces. The first movement was written for ZOFO.
Each movement is generated using a series of very simple rules that were put in place before the composing occurred. gentle rules may be played as a complete set, or individual movements may be played separately.
I. - petals open/closed: The numbers 11, 7, 5 and 3 are the basis for generating where to start and where to end the canons;
Piano Right is -1 and then in retrograde; Piano Left is +1 and then in retrograde. After the middle section, the process is reversed and exchanged between the parts.
