This course will briefly review the current role of dental implants, all ceramic materials, and esthetics in adult restorative dental therapy. The dental marketplace has exploded with new and enticing treatment options. Dr. Lyndon Cooper D.D.S., Ph.D. is the Stallings Distinguished Professor of Dentistry of the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Friday-February 1, 2013 Periodontal Maintenance of Dental Implants Speaker: Gregory E. Oxford, DDS, MS, Phd. Half Day Course 2:00am - 5:30pm CODE: OXFORD 3.0 CEU’s Recommended for: Dentists, Dental Assistants, Hygienists The increase in dental implant therapy has been exponential in the last twenty years however our knowledge on how to maintain the health of the fixtures has not kept pace. This program will define the components of an implant system, review an assortment of implant systems and explore some of the most accepted methods of patient and professional maintenance. Recommendations of oral hygiene measures will be given. Additionally this course will review the parameters of health between natural teeth and implant fixtures and discuss state of the art monitoring techniques to help ensure maintenance of health of the dental implant.

Oxford DDS, MS, Phd., is a boardcertified periodontal and implant surgeon, has a clinical as well as research background and has authored and delivered numerous reports on both clinical and scientific aspects of periodontal regeneration. Dr. Oxford received his DDS from Emory University, his surgical training in Maryland with the Navy, his Masters and Diplomate status in 1994 and his PhD in molecular biology from the University of Florida College of Medicine.

SATURDAY-February 2, 2013 Layering Your Way to Success Speaker: Victoria L. Wallace, CDA, LDA Workshop 9:30am - 11:30pm CODE: WSHOP 3.0 CEU’s Recommended for: Dentists, New Dentists, Dental Assistants

This course will explain the features and benefits of using a micro-hybrid composite to not only “mimic mother nature” and provide the dental patient with an aesthetic restoration, but save money and time for both the dental practice and the patient. The hands-on portion of this presentation will include “building a tooth” out of composite, utilizing both dentin and enamel shades. The attendee will also go through the complete polishing steps to complete the entire aesthetic look of the tooth.

Victoria Wallace’s chair side career started in 1976. She has a love for having fun and being productive in the dental office. With this being said she absolutely believes in continued education and has a real passion for delivering as much information to her audience as possible, but in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Victoria is a member of the ADAA and Past President of the Nevada Dental Assistants Association. She served as Vice Chair of the American Dental Assistants Association Foundation from 2008 to 2011. Victoria was the 2007 recipient of the D. Kay Mosley Distinguished Service Award for her contributions to the ADAA and the ADAAF.

In 1996 Victoria shifted her successful, productive career from dental assisting to product education for Ultradent. The past manager for the company’s West Coast sales team, Victoria now works with dental schools and residency programs helping to educate our future dentists, hygienists and dental assistants. She continues to present at dental meetings all across the U.S. and some international programs as well.

Victoria has also contributed articles for PennWell’s publication, The Dental Office, along with articles in the Dental Entrepreneur, The ADAA Journal, RDA, and recently the Premier Issue of Oral Hygiene out of Toronto, Ontario.
