Learn basic techniques of watercolor, with emphasis on freeing methods that are easy and enjoyable to take full advantage of the medium. Instructional techniques include mini demos, mock-ups, student exercises, and plenty of one on one mentoring. You will work from photos, projected images, still life and plein air painting, weather permitting, taking advantage of the beauty of New Mexico, focusing on nature/landscape elements for exercises. The class includes discussion of printmaking methods and various papers, inks and tools for monotype printing. Explore your own creative visions while solving artistic and technical problems. Practice the watercolor medium while exploring new ways to paint and problem solve in a friendly and supportive environment. Choose your own subject matter and paint in your own technique. Learn techniques to use charcoal and plastic erasers like broadstroke brushes that sweep across the paper similar to painting a landscape in oil or watercolor.
