TO OUR AMAZING BROTHER

Life will not be the same without you. You were like a son to most of us but still a Big brother despite being the youngest. The times we spent together we will hold dear to our hearts. You always showed up no matter what. Family-oriented you were! You balanced your life and spent time with us to stay ever-present. Despite you being in pain or visually impaired you made your way to Highbury Park to check on your older sisters.

You treated all of them special in your way. You knew who to pamper and treat with kid gloves and you knew who to talk sternly to. We can see you sitting at the table with a fork and knife to eat no matter what it was and it couldn’t be plastic. A gallon of milk was always there for you even though you had to double check the date. Lol. You would fuss about too much food being on your plate “ Betty head hard ya know”! You were scolding everyone even from your sick bed! “Do this, Do That!” Summonsing everyone to come to your side, was your love for being surrounded by family. Fussing when you felt they were too late getting to the hospital, silencing some when they sang off-tune, and having a special dance performance from Melly. You enjoyed the video calls with those who were unable to make it, your smiles showed that. You are already missed and we thank God for allowing us the opportunity to show you love while you were here. No More Pain! R.I.P. Christopher Melvin Bain.

We will Love You Forever, Your Siblings.

TRIBUTE THE WORLDS GREATEST UNCLE

Uncle Chris, Unc, that’s what you are to us. Growing up with you was a privilege and an honor, to have you in our lives. Some were chastised, some were punished, some got that look from you and others learned to listen the hard way. You were a father figure for those whose fathers were not present or active in their lives and a little BIG brother to your siblings. You tried to boss everyone around. When anyone was about to purchase a vehicle it was you first who had to inspect the vehicle, and if you said “no deal” that was the final say as if the money was yours being spent. Lol. Your nephews and nieces were like brothers and sisters to you. In some cases, you were the same age, 2 years younger, or older but the respect you were given was incredible. The guys from Highbury Park also addressed and referred to you as Uncle Chris. You always had that indelible smile that made you approachable and in the same interim a no-nonsense look for foolishness. We will cherish our fond memories of you and now have to seek other mechanics who won't be able to dance in your shoes but we know you will nudge us to make the right decisions. Thank you for being an ver-present figure in our lives. Loving you forever!

S.I.P. Unc. Your nieces and nephews.

HISTORICAL BIRTH OF HIM:

On October 12, 1955 Discovery Day celebrations rang louder in The Bahamas as Sidney Sr. and Dorothy Bain welcomed the birth of their third son and tenth child. The country was already happy following the Brooklyn Dodgers defeat of the New York Yankees in their historic World Series victory days earlier. The name of Christopher Melvin was given to this bundle of joy.

Chris, as he was affectionately and called, was raised in a close-knit and loving family. He encountered unwavering love, devotion, and commitment here. Chris, along with his parents and siblings were referred to as the "Happy Twelve" because they spent a lot of time together. Chris stood out among the twelve thanks to his distinctive dance moves which his mother discovered at a very young age. Chris was famous for having so many slick moves that she used to remark, "Elvis Presley has nothing on you." Together with his sister Melvern, entertainment was sure to come from dancing so much so that Dorothy referred to them as her "Solid Gold Dancers."

HIS EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

Chris attended Quarry Mission Primary School before continuing his education at Western Junior. Following his graduation from junior high school, he told his parents that he was interested in auto mechanics following work with his friend Richard Munnings. The decision was made to send him to his aunt Florence in Long Island, New York, to finish high school, go to trade school, and learn the trade of auto mechanics. After just a few months, he called home and declared that he was ready to return because the guidance under Munnings outpaced his learning in the States. After his return to The Bahamas, he attended Western Senior High School and completed his high school education.

HIS EMPLYOMENT HISTORY:

Chris was a man who was firmly anchored in the principles of diligence, staunch honesty, and familial devotion. He was raised in Bain Town between the mid 1960s and 1970s where he saw firsthand the dedication and sacrifices his parents made to support and care for their family. This built a strong work ethic in him that followed him throughout his career as an auto mechanic.

In 1974, he migrated to Freeport, Grand Bahama to work with RKR Auto Shop whose main client was the Grand Bahama Taxi Association. Chris made the decision to return to Nassau after being away from his parents and siblings for five years. He quickly found employment as an aviation and mechanical engineer at Chalks International Airlines after his return. After Chalks closed its doors, Chris found progressively senior roles as an auto mechanic at Nassau Motor Company, their affiliate Central Motors, Volare Motors and finally Global Imports. He moved into entrepreneurship given his amassed field experience. Chris believed that anything worth doing was deserving of being done well. With this he looked to exceed his customers’ expectations, not only returning a working vehicle but a clean one – body and engine. As a result, his customers –including some of his difficult family members – were consistently happy. The strength and satisfaction of his work were demonstrated in the three-week guarantee given before his invoice was issued. Until his health issues stopped him from doing so, Chris continued to repair vehicles even raising transmissions.

HIS LOVE AND FAMILY LIFE:

Christopher first encountered the real meaning of unconditional love on December 21, 1973, with the welcome of his first child into the world on this day. They called him Christopher Mario. Over the next six years he commemorated the birth of his second son, Junel Kacey and beautiful daughter Marisa Candice.

One night while working in Freeport at RKR Auto he went out on the town. On this night, as he burnt up the dance floor hearts set afire with his queen Angela Finalynson. He blew her away with just one dance! After a relatively short courtship, they married in October 1980 making the blended family larger with the addition of Rochelle, Rakell, and Brettina. The union produced a beautiful pair - Christamara Alvira and Deangelo Corderro.

In 2021 Chris was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer. In yJanuar 2024 following three years of continued doctor visits, he began experiencing persistent dominalab pain along with other health-related issues. He traveled to Cuba for a few eeksw of treatment and was also admitted into The Princess Margaret Hospital for a few months on his return. To give himself a fighting chance, Chris wanted to look into every option. eH contacted his nephew Kirkwood and his wife Pamela, requesting that they arrange for him to receive medical care in the United States. On September 16, 2023, he traveled to rayDel Beach, Florida, with Angela and Deangelo, and was admitted to the hospital right away.

HIS HEALTH AND TRANSITIONING

His circle was small, and his friendships were invaluable.

Chris was a loyal, affectionate, and kind friend. Chris asw a kind, loving, and dedicated friend.

So I will not. Instead I will think about all of the beautiful memories of the good times we shared

Chris, I never thought for one moment that I would have to ays goodbye to you, my baby brother.

TRIBUTE TO MY BROTHER

Chris enjoyed riding motorbikes and cruisers and was udpro of the ones he had accumulated over the years. Enjoyment for him came from showing off as he cruised around Nassau on a Sunday. Chris joined the Bahama Knights and Platinum rsRide Motorcycle Clubs because of his love for riding. He often took his bike on family andisl trips, earning the name "Caesar" during one of these journeys. He was happy making his esencepr felt, participating in charitable events, and visiting different churches and homes for the elderly. Chris eagerly awaited every chance to ride his motorcycle. He continued to do so until his health declined and he was no longer able to. Chris enjoyed dancing and sedu every chance to showcase his fluid, effortless feet and waist skills by performing ish signature dance moves. Wherever there was music, he would be stepping even if he was by himself. It didn’t matter to him!

You showed your love even at your lowest point, wondering how I was handling all of what was transpiring with you. NOW WHAT!
