Severn School believes in educating the whole person in a student-centered, supportive educational community that values the dignity, self worth, and potential of each individual. Severn's Head of School since 2006, Doug Lagarde, lives this philosophy every day. With Mr. Lagarde at the helm, Severn is a thriving community where every member is known and valued.
Mr. Lagarde is responsible for both the day-to-day administration of the institution and the implementation of the strategic long-range plans of the school's Board of Trustees
Smiles and laughter are bountiful and contagious in the Lower School - this is where confidence, creativity, and character grow for our youngest scholars. When you step inside Severn's Lower School you will see students engaged in all aspects of our program as they play purposefully and create academic, social and emotional connections throughout and beyond our school community.
The mission of the Upper School is to prepare our students for college and life. We believe that students who work closely with their teachers and coaches feel known and valued and committed to their own success. From Model UN to Global Civilizations to Advanced Robotics, our academic offerings are classical but diverse - a serious and joyful undertaking for our students.
It is in the Severn School environment of committed learners where Severn School students can feel free to take intellectual risks and develop themselves as students, athletes, and people.
Our Middle School experience is a bridge between lower and Upper School student success - an intense three years to foster academic, social, emotional, and physical well-being. We are here to guide our students across that bridge with confidence and support. We ask the important questions in creating our academic and extracurricular programs. "What are the things that kids need?" "What are the demands they are going to face in high school, college, and the working world?"

Mr. Bodley began working at Severn in 1976 and was the head varsity wrestling coach for 7 years. and the assistant varsity football coach for 40 years.
Dr. Baugh has been teaching at Severn in the English department since 1990, making this year her 34th year at Severn!
As the leaves transition to vibrant shades of orange and gracefully descend from the trees, students at Severn trade their summer vibes for their finest maroon attire, marking the shift from leisure to a bustling fall season. This time of year brims with special occasions—Leadership Lab, Club Fair, Convocation, Spirit Week, and Homecoming—demanding students to harmonize academics with exciting extracurriculars. The whirlwind start might seem daunting, but soon enough, fall bids adieu and paves the way for the approaching winter.
"The best part of the leadership lab is that we aren't just learning from faculty members but also each other. It is a great way to start the school year by getting involved."
- Adele Hlousek
"It was good to see everyone after the summer and collaborate with each other throughout the three days, especially when choosing the adaptive challenge."
-- Caroline Bing
"It was really fun solving different challenges with classmates from other grades"
- Iwinosa Ede-Osifo
During one of the days of Leadership Lab students spent time in the Stine Environmental Center completing challenges and obstacles together to build trust and teamwork abilities.
"The leadership lab is great way to start off the new school year"
Be the Difference" is Severn’s adaptive challenge for 2024. It is a statement that calls individuals to actively contribute to positive change in our community and beyond. This challenge requires us as students and staff to reflect on our values, beliefs, and unique skills, empowering us to make a change for the better. Whether it involves community service, volunteering, clubs, sustainability, or developing new relationships with our peers, embracing the "Be the Difference" means recognizing the potential impact of personal actions on a larger scale, fostering positive transformation within Severn’s community.
Just before the school year begins each summer, Upper School students gather for three days of discussions and workshops on effective leadership at Severn. Although students in elected and club leadership positions are expected to attend, the lab is open to all students. It’s a voluntary forum where any interested student can participate. Students learn leadership skills like group dynamics, presentation strategies, organizational techniques, how to run an effective meeting, how to encourage participation, and more. Students who attend the summer lab work together to create an adaptive challenge for the year which will guide many club and student council events.
Senior Prefects are selected from the junior class in the spring to serve as senior student leaders. Students are selected for their leadership potential, integrity, and their commitment to Severn. Prefects participate in a leadership workshop in the fall. They assist with the transition to Upper School for 9th graders all year, new student orientation, homecoming, and other social events. They also act as assistant class advisors, participate in admissions events, and fill many other student leadership roles.
The first day of school is always exciting, getting to see all of your friends again (and maybe making new ones). Finding where your new classes are and catching up with your advisory, and hoping you don’t have any day one homework, it can get very hectic very fast. The Seniors gathered together before classes started for their Last First Day Tailgate. They had pancakes, eggs, donuts and so much more. They took pictures together and celebrated their Last First Day as an Admiral.
All Hail the Code
The Honor Code is very important to our school. Our backbone, our heart, our brain, it’s the nerves flowing through our community. Everyone has signed it, and everyone will sign it. It’s made by students, for students, our foundation of trust ensures that we feel safe and included in the Severn community. Maybe the world would be a better place if everyone followed the honor code.
"We, the members of the Severn community, value respect, empathy, and trust. To uphold these virtues we strive to regard others with civility, foster an environment of belonging, and exhibit character of unquestionable integrity."
- The Community Code
Students came together for a food filled hour of exploring new clubs. Club leaders set up their tables with posters and treats to encourage students to join their club. The Admiral made his rounds throughout the gym to build school spirit.
Upper School students can pursue their passions, find purpose, and practice leadership skills through the robust Clubs Program. Severn currently hosts 44 different clubs, advised by 48 different faculty members including Amnesty International, Severn Service Society, Chess Club, the Outing Club, and more. This is much more than a social, extracurricular opportunity for students. Club members are expected to take an active role in connecting their interests and causes with the larger school community.
"I love the Club Fair because I love to share my club with other students"
Jack Shenck, 24 club
"I love kicking off the year with club fair, it sets the tone for the rest of the year."

"It was fun getting to know about the different clubs and groups at Severn."

This annual all-school assembly is a way to bring the whole community together, welcome new students and faculty, and kick off the 2023-24 academic year.
Following tradition, the kindergarten and first-grade students walked into Convocation hand-in-hand with members of the Class of 2024. They were also seated together for the assembly. After Convocation, they stayed together, walking from the Edward St. John Athletic Center down Alumni Walkway and over to the Zimmerman Library, where each of the kindergarten and first-grade students were read a story from a senior. The seniors also gave the young learners a letter with words of advice for them as they continue on with their education.
Severn Oratorical Society is a group that focuses on the art of public speaking and rhetoric. Its primary purpose is to cultivate and enhance the skills of its members in the art of persuasive and effective communication.
Members of the oratorical society engage in various activities and events that aim to develop their public speaking abilities, critical thinking skills, and overall communication proficiency.
Severn Upper School students were inducted into the Jonah Halsted Chapter of the National Honor Society and the Severn School chapter of the Cum Laude Society to honor their commitment to character, scholarship, service, and leadership. As a community, we define ourselves by these tenets; they are written in the words of our mission and woven into the fabric of daily life at Severn. Our annual NHS assembly is a chance for families, teachers and peers to both recognize these students and hear speeches about what character, scholarship, service, and leadership mean for our community today.

Admiral TV is a unique aspect of the Severn community. This club is dedicated to live streaming sports events, for those unable to attend games. Students come together to broadcast home games and matches. Each broadcast is entirely student led providing a unique perspective on each of the games and all of the athletes. The club is advised by Mr. Maggart who has a background in sports reporting. Admiral TV gives students an opportunity to explore their interests in sports broadcasting and the technology behind recording a game.
Do you have school spirit? Then Spirit Week is the best time of year to show how involved you are with our community. With fun events and cool competitions around every corner, there's something for everyone during this special time of fall. Each grade picks a theme as the foundation for the annual challenges taking place throughout the week. Then on Friday they are all pitted against each other to see who is the best. After that, everyone goes home to prepare for Saturday's homecoming!
For those who like to collaborate on a big project with their friends, hallway decoration is the perfect activity! For our more artistically inclined students, designing and creating a banner to represent your grade's theme is buckets of fun! If you are brave enough to show your talent on the stage, maybe try Sing For Your Supper! And if you are more of a “stay in the back” kind of person, helping with the food drive is a satisfying way to participate without stepping out of your comfort zone! Just remember, everything is a competition!
During Spirit Week, there is a tradition where the Junior girls take on the Senior girls in a game of flag football. Alongside them, the junior and senior boys take charge in coaching each team of girls. The game is reffed by Mr. Buckley, Mr. Soden, and Mr. Lagarde, the heads of Upper School. Every year there are some questionable calls, which causes the girls and coaches to get competitive with one another.Traditionally, the senior girls dominate the juniors. This year it was a close game, but the senior girls ended up pulling through with a win to jump-start their pride going into Spirit Week.
9th/10th grade picnic
Through our community service program, we hope to instill in each of our students the lasting desire to serve others. Volunteering in the greater community teaches empathy. It teaches compassion. And it's an opportunity for students to advocate for causes that they really care about.
Throughout the week, the grades compete to see who can bring in the most food items to contribute to the spirit week food drive. It is run by the Severn Service Society Club and all items collected are taken to SPAN (Serving People Across Neighborhoods). This is the best way to earn points for your grade during Spirit Week.
The first day of Spirit week is always full of excitement! Whether it be representing their favorite Maryland sports team or wearing Maryland-theme clothing, students had a great time expressing their state pride!
Tuesday
Many students were workin' it on Wednesday! From construction workers to doctors to various types of sports players. The student body had a super fun and exciting day, continuing to work on their sing for your supper performance during a periods and lunches.
Thursday was our last spirit week day before class color day on Friday! On this cozy day many students either wore pajama sets and brought in their favorite childhood stuffed animals or even dressed up as stuffed animals in onesies!
During spirit week, each grade will compete in various competitions to show of their creativity and skill. They design banners and decorate hallways to fit their chosen theme, dress up for spirit days, and preform in Sing for your Supper. Judges look for creativity, complexity, and if the rules for each challenge have been sufficiently met. The most important challenge is the food drive, which awards the most points based on the amount of food items donated.
In this annual battle of tug of war, grades fought to pull the spoon across the line. With big upsets when the freshman boys beat the sophomore boys and the junior girls beat the senior girls. Senior boys and sophomore girls pulled off the wins for their grades.
Alumni came back to campus for the weekend to enjoy the Severn vs. AACS Homecoming game. Some alumni took student led tours of the school to see the newer parts of campus. Severn families and fans celebrated the 50th reunion of the class of 1973 during half time of the game.
The Freshman theme this year was the "Famous Freshman". Their fun pink color was seen all over their hallway with pink balloons and streamers to decorate. Their banner featured the admiral in his pink suit heading down the red carpet.
The "Famous Freshman" put on an ambitious performance with the songs "Just Wanna Rock" by Lil Uzi Vert and "Barbie World" by Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, and Aqua. To close, Jack Phillips and Rowan Ward sang "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus, as all the freshman joined in.
The "Spooky Sophomores" had a passionate performance with songs including "Disturbia", "Monster Mash", "The Witch Doctor", and more. In the middle of "Thriller" the auditorium lost power, but Ezra Rojas stepped in and solo preformed an acapella version of "Dreams and Nightmares."
Sophomores went with a "Spooky Sophomores" theme which included skeletons, spiders, and gravestones all over their hallway. They even included a murder mystery in their hallway. The scarecrow admiral and a bright pink hunted house appeared on their banner.
The Juniors went with a Disney theme including hallway decorations from different Disney movies and TV Shows,. Students dressed in a variety of Disney outfits. Their banner including buildings from Disney movies with the admiral heading down the street to Cinderella's Castle.
The "Disney Juniors" had a seller performance with the songs "Something That I Want" from Tangled and "Love is an Open Door" from Frozen. Paisley Pentecost and Kenzie Getz sung a duet to "A Whole New World", a Jedi battle, and a funny exes dance including old couples within the grade.
Seniors went with a "Lost at Sea" theme, deciding to decorate their hallways with a ship wreck and created an underwater bubble-filled experience. Seniors dressed up as pirates and mermaids to fully embrace their Lost at Sea theme.
Freshman pictures were taken at Lindsted Beach. The beach provided an amazing background for pictures, as it is right on the Severn River. The whole grade was able to gather together for picture before heading off to the homecoming dance.
Before Homecoming, the Freshman enjoyed a dessert reception with their classmates and prefects that took place in Creeden Commons. Group advisory pictures were taken and various desserts and drinks were provided for the Freshman. After, they all walked to the Homecoming dance together as a grade.
The Sophomores had a blast at their Homecoming dance! A highlight for many were the grade pictures before the dance, getting to come together as a grade before they head to the festivities. No longer the newbies in the school, 10th grade took the dance on by storm, dancing with their friends and dates. Their creative homecoming signs caught the Severn students' eye with their witty posters and creative lettering.
Junior pictures were hosted by the Fisher family. Their beautiful home provided an amazing background for pictures, as they live right on the

The long-standing rivalry between Severn and St. Mary's runs deep, spanning decades. This matchup ignites an unparalleled sense of school spirit, as the Admirals aim to "Sink the Saints." This year, the Severn student section rallied behind the team, donning black-out shirts meticulously crafted and sold by the Spirit Captains, featuring an exceptional design by Nate Eakins ('26).
After a hard fought game, the Admirals unfortunately came short, suffering a loss of 6-36 to the Saints.
Spirit Captains play a pivotal role in maintaining high levels of school spirit. Their responsibilities range from organizing pumpkin decorating sessions, creating shirt designs for sports games, selecting engaging themes, and much more.

Connect for Cancer is a club run by two senior girls, Caroline Bing and Skyler Morton. They bring students together to build awareness about cancer. This year, the club met tie died socks pink to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. Severn has a tradition we call "Pink Tie Friday", where the boys wear pink ties on Friday to show their support for people battling cancer. Now, everyone is able to join them by wearing their pink socks.
"I can't wait to wear my pink socks to show my support for cancer!"

The purpose of Outing club is to promote engagement with the local environment for students interested. They think of local and low cost events to do around us so everyone can participate. Em Fritz and Clara Anderson are the two student leaders advised by science teacher Mr. Witzel. They started the year with a bike to school day, followed by a kayaking trip to Spa Creek.
On this day we honor those who have served for our country
We were delighted to have Dr. Katherine Graw Lamond '96 as our distinguished alumni speaker. She spoke fondly of her time at Severn, reflecting back on her memories and the lessons she learned, which help her thrive in her various professions, as the Chief of General Surgery at Sibley Memorial Hospital and Assistant professor of Surgery for Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She is also the Medical Director of the Johns Hopkins Center for the Bariatrics Surgery and the Director of the Surgical House Officer and PA programs.
Students from Dr. Baugh's American Public Address class read out names from the Severn Memorial Roster. Students had the opportunity to represent one of the 85 Severn Alumni who died serving out country.
Today is especially important to Severn because we used to be a Naval Academy prep school
Grandfriends day is a chance for our Grandfriends to go back to school and spend the day with us in our classes. Students can give them a tour, introduce them to their teachers, or just have fun hanging out with them. Grandfriends also were able to tag along to watch the Veteran's Day Assembly.
The announcement of this year's fall play was greeted with excitement and cheering upon being first announced to the students. At that moment, it was known that this play would be exactly what it ended up being-- hilariously clever, surprisingly different, and an unarguably good time. Those who attended the play remarked on it's out-of-the-box plot and the fact that they were amused throughout the entirety of the play.
Summarized as "a play within a play", The Play that Goes Wrong follows a struggling theater troupe through their attempt to put on a production of their own. Encountering set malfunctions, "forgotten lines", and several other wacky problems during their performance , it's an understatement to say the play doesn't go as planned.
Following Severn tradition, we started off this winter with caroling and hot chocolates in the rotunda, while also wearing our ugly Christmas sweaters! We also welcomed the Spanish exchange students into our community. During our winter leadership lab, Severn students devoted their weekend to creating seminars and workshops that follow the theme of Community Day: "Connect, Collaborate, Celebrate". We also held many musical events this winter. First off, our holiday themed Revels Concert, where our several musical groups filled our auditorium with cheer through their amazing musical talents! January started off with a few snow days, giving some of our Severn students time to go outside, whether it was skiing, sledding, snowboarding, or staying inside to get a cozy head start on some school work. Due to the snow we were forced to postpone our musician in residence concert until the following Saturday, when we got an astounding performance from Paolo Schianchi, playing the guitar in ways none of us have ever seen before!
The Spanish Exchange Program was a wonderful and unique experience. In the fall, students involved in the exchange hosted students from Barcelona for a week. During their time here, the Spanish students came to classes with us, explored Annapolis and Washington, D.C., went to Six Flags, carved pumpkins, and got to experience everyday life in America. They even got to try an authentic Thanksgiving dinner. In the spring, we will go to Barcelona to stay with the same Spanish students, and it's going to be a lot of fun. Nos vamos a divertir mucho con nuestros nuevos amigos.
In Spanish Club, students have lots of fun learning about different aspects of Hispanic culture. They have learned about Hispanic cuisines, dances, music, art, sports, and more through activities like videos, contests, and games. They practice their Spanish speaking skills as well, helping them prepare for their classes. For CommUnity Day, members of the Spanish Club researched and presented on challenges faced by Latin American immigrants.
"I love the jeopardy games we play in Spanish club." - Eli Valencia

The Memory Project is an organization that works closely with schools, orphanages, and charities around the world to improve the lives of underprivileged children in those communities. Each year, the Memory Project takes photographs of the children and sends them to schools like Severn, where students create portraits or identity artworks of the children in the photographs. This year, the Memory Project organization focused on Colombia. Severn students created over 70 works of art for the children there, giving these children personal keepsakes when they may otherwise have none. Through the Memory Project, these children know that they haven’t been forgotten. Severn students learned that they could have an impact on individuals and make the world a better place through art.
"It's amazing to see how easy it is to make a difference through art.
Miller, 24
The Art and Ceramics club is run by Clara Anderson and Lydia Saunders. Throughout the year, they meet for seasonal events like egg decorating in the spring or snowman making in the winter; however, on most days you will find art club members in Mr. Sensbach's and Mrs. Wilbur's rooms creating masterpieces.
"I learned so much about how my art can impact people.Thank you so much to everyone who participated this year."
Iwinosa Ede-Osifo, 25
"I love the memory project because i get to support kids through my art!"

Though the weather outside may be frightful, the melodies inside are truly delightful! Our annual winter Revels concert never fails to captivate, showcasing the musical prowess of our talented community members. We strongly urge you to mark your calendars for next year's concert if you missed this year's, as witnessing the exquisite live performances by your peers is an unforgettable experience you shouldn't miss. The winter Revels concert serves as a splendid platform for our musically gifted individuals to shine, unveiling the dedication and artistry they've poured into their performances.
We all sometimes need a reminder that we are all in this together, and Community day at Severn serves as that reminder for all of our students. It's a day where we all get together, discuss topics that are relevant to ourselves, and find out we might have more in common with one another then we initially thought. Nothing is more important to us then our own community after all!
The logo above, created by Sophomore Cooper Morton, is a reflection of the topics we discussed in preparation for Community Day: connect, collaborate, and celebrate.
Seminars, led by student-run clubs, delve into topics that might not typically be covered in a standard school day. Anyone can suggest or lead a seminar about almost anything related to strengthening our community, from mental health in sports to exploring foreign cuisines, or even discussing weighty topics like police brutality and abusive relationships.
"It was so valuable to expand our perspectives by looking outside our own communities and learning about the immigration crisis today"
- Parker Collins '24
Paolo Schianchi takes playing the guitar to the next level. As a guitarist, composer, arranger, researcher, and inventor, he is one of the most interesting musicians of our modern era. From a 49-string guitar to a guitar that displays images on its surface based on what notes are being played, Schianchi's performances are a stunning feast of sights and sounds. He has even invented the Octopus® which allows him to play multiple different types of guitars, with multiple different parts of his body, all at once! He is the founder of OmniaMusica Recording Studio, has been a special guest on major events (like Expo Universal Exposition in 2015 and TED in 2017), and was granted a special visa for life for “artists with extraordinary abilities” (which has previously only been given with Nobel Prizes).
Our Musicians in Residence program began in 2012 to commemorate the passion, exuberance and solid musicianship exemplified by Dillon Moran, Severn School Class of 2013. The goal of this program is to inspire students to have a higher level of appreciation for music of all kinds, just like Dillon. Every year, we invite an outside musician to spend a several days at Severn to work with students, faculty, and the entire community to inspire, create and perform great music.
Every year, Hoops Madness provides the Admirals with an opportunity to unleash their competitive spirit and engage in a festive and friendly competition. Each team, comprised of both girls and boys, proudly represents their group while donning creatively decorated shirts.

The musical could not have been so successful without the help of these very special directors!
Attendees of the production couldn't help but rave about the superb casting choices and the comedic flair brought to the roles of the princes by Sean Ward and Caden Schnabel. Ainsley Grow's portrayal of Rapunzel added to the musical's humor. "Into the Woods" truly lived up to its reputation, eliciting laughter from the audience and immersing them fully in its enchanting tale.
"Into the Woods" is a musical by Stephen Sondheim that intertwines the stories of several fairy tale characters, including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel. The first act follows their individual quests to fulfill their wishes, but as they venture into the woods, their desires become more complicated. In the second act, consequences emerge, and characters must confront the aftermath of their actions.
The committed technical team exerted unwavering effort to elevate the show to its visual pinnacle, creating enchanting backgrounds and sets that transport viewers into the magical world of the musical. The lighting and sound design of "Into the Woods" contribute to the overall theatrical experience, heightening the magic and drama of the musical while enriching the audience's engagement with the characters and storyline.

Spring not only marks the awakening of nature but also the flourishing of academic accomplishments. From captivating performances in the arts to outstanding achievements in sports and academics, Severn students have continued to shine brightly during the season of growth.
For the class of 2024, senior spring is the season of farewells and new beginnings. We have captured the unforgettable moments, friendships, and achievements of our graduating seniors as they prepare to embark on their next journey.
Pete Medhurst came to talk with our Admiral TV students about his experience and advice working in sports broadcast journalism. Medhurst is the play-by-play voice of Navy sports (football, basketball, lacrosse), commentator for the Ravens Radio Network and Nationals Radio Network, lacrosse commentator for the B1G Network, host and producer for Audacy DC (980 and 106.7 The Fan), and announcer at Rosecroft Raceway.
Organized though a collaboration between Math Department Chair Julien Meyer, Alumni Director Carolyn Campion, and Nick Elsmo '07 (Wealth Advisor at JP Morgan), fifteen Severn students took a field trip to Wall Street to learn more about finance and investing with alumni business executives. The first presentation was given by Sean Quinn '06 (MML Partners) and George Broadbin '06 (Acacia Research). Sitting around the boardroom table, our students learned the intricacies of private equity, complete with whiteboard diagrams, PowerPoints, case studies, and lots of entertaining anecdotes! Additionally, a presentation was given by Emily Mason Larkin '04 and three of her team members at Cornell Capital. Our students were invited into the boardroom for a 90-minute discussion about investments, risk-assessments, case studies, career training, and more.
Although the name has changed over the years, the purpose of the Multicultural Admiral Dinner has always been the same: celebrating the vibrant diversity of the Severn community. Each year, community members from all three divisions gather together, bringing delicious food and colorful displays that represent their family’s heritage. Attendees were given their own ticket and passport to take a culinary trip around the world, weaving through the cafeteria to try handmade dishes from more than 20 countries! The Multicultural Admiral Dinner is the perfect event to share our traditions and cultures with one another in celebration of Severn’s rich tapestry.
"Amnesty International provides a space for important topics to be addressed and discussed"
- Sophia Melfi, Junior Leader
Amnesty club represents Amnesty International, an organization devoted to providing aid and spreading awareness for several relevant human rights issues happening around the world. Hosting a community service opportunity, Write for Rights, where Severn students had the opportunity to write letters to governments advocating for those whose rights have been violated, Amnesty club provides the students of Severn a chance to make a difference.
Random Acts of Kindness hosts events around school to spread kindness to all of the students. From passing out hot chocolate on cold mornings to putting candy canes on cars in the students parking lot they do whatever they can to spread cheer in the Severn community.
"We spread kindness throughout the school as we celebrate the little things and highlight important holidays!"
- Dylan Ulehla '24 Senior Leader
Severn's athletic program is committed to a quality experience, highlighted by commitment, hard work, pride and teamwork. The importance of integrity, sportsmanship and personal excellence in a competitive environment are at the core of our program. Every lacrosse game, tennis match, and sailing competition is a learning lab. Through them, our students learn to commit: to work toward long-term goals, make good decisions, and even as the pressure mounts, play with their whole hearts. These are lessons that matter on the playing field and in the classroom and, most importantly, in life.
Before scoring the final point, being the first to the finish line, making the winning touchdown or taking home the championship, our student athletes apply themselves — it's about perseverance, practice and purpose. Our Admirals take what they learn on the field into the classroom and every area of their lives.

Being a Severn Admiral means leading your way. It means you'll be challenged to find both your passion, and your voice. Being an Admiral also means opportunity. As a student, you'll have endless opportunities both in and out of the classroom to try new things and expand your horizons. And because you'll be known, you'll be supported and encouraged every step of the way. This focus on discovery and the joy of learning begins at the Lower School and carries all the way through to graduation and beyond. All of these experiences will help you discover your WHY, build your leadership skills and establish a foundation for success beyond Severn School.

“Fear is Temporary, Regret is Forever”
After a lifetime of Severn, I have learned that your family is by far the best support someone can have. Although family can sometimes get frustrating and be annoying usually when they are doing so, they’re telling you what you don’t want to hear. In the end, the advice they give should always be listened to if not taken. I tried not to ask for my family's help often being an independent person, but they know when something is up and I’m very thankful for that. However, learning that they are the largest supporters is not the most valued thing I have gotten from Severn. I have made some amazing friends such as Spencer, Pump, Ando, Willy, and Matt. I have known Spencer my entire life and he has always been able to help in any situation or just by lightening the mood. He has been friends with me since preschool and to this day I will never understand how teachers got us mixed up. Me and Ando and Pump met freshman year and they immediately fit in with me and Spencer, Pump is one of the most wholesome people I have ever met and is an absolute genius. Ando has become one of my closest friends over the past years and is all-around super funny. Me and Matt became friends in 8th-grade gym class and have been tight ever since, he has given me some of the best advice to date and is a very genuine person. Finally, Willy, is possibly the goofiest person in the entire world, he never fails to make everyone around him laugh, he cares about all of his close friends deeply, and is a great person to have around. Overall being done could not have come soon enough. Goodbye.
