The Arrow Post Sports Teams on Hold, but Hope for Spring Season By Eli Serota

Sports aren’t coming back. Sort of… We’ve all been affected by COVID-19 in one way or another, but the latest for our Seven Arrows athletes is that school sports teams are being cancelled until further notice. Many students, myself included, were looking forward to sports this year, and to hear that they won't be returning this winter is disappointing. I wanted to know who makes decisions about issues like this, and it turns out to be a combination of the school’s COVID-19 task force and the school administration. The Task Force looks into the necessary protocols to be able to play sports, and the school administration decides whether it is doable. There are many issues that have to be considered. First, bringing back sports requires suitable venues. After winter break we were supposed to have volleyball and basketball, which both are usually played inside. Due to Covid, however, we can’t play the games indoors, because studies show that Covid is more transmissible inside, and many schools don't have outdoor sports facilities Also, there’s the matter of transportation. “In years past we Continued on Page 11

First Grade Dreams Big

Ethical Leadership an SAE Tradition

This past month, the first grade learned about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to supply some insight as to why we celebrate him. Through picture books, Scholastic News magazines as well as several videos, the students learned about his life and mission. Their focus was specifically on his ‘I Have a Dream’ speech, which they also watched. From there, the first graders began brainstorming their own Continued on Page 4

Not many schools get to do ethical leadership projects, and we are lucky that this school has the privilege to do them. Ethical leadership projects are a fun way to raise awareness and help a good cause.
