Ideal Prepaid Solutions alleged to be vending and keeping proceeds

Contractor still selling

R 5million worth of electricity which belongs to the municipality

Even after the municipality won the case for the termination of contract for Ideal Prepaid Solutions, the contractor which was appointed by Govan Mbeki Municipality to sell prepaid electricity to its residents on behalf of the municipality is alleged to still be vending and collecting proceeds on behalf of the municipality without transferring to GMM what is due to them.

During his address to the councillors at the launch of the Mayoral Service Delivery outreach programme which took place in Embalenhle on Friday, 03 November 2022, the Executive Mayor of Govan Mbeki Municipality, Cllr Nhlakanipho Zuma said that although the municipality has terminated the contract with Ideal Prepaid Solutions the previous year, the contractor continued to vend unlawfully within the municipality and continues to collect revenue from the residents of the

municipality without the authority to do so because GMM won the case against the contractor where it was compelled to desist service.

“Although at the beginning they used to forward the proceeds to our finance department, that has now stopped all together and they do not send whatever money they make from selling our electricity to our residents to us anymore,” said Cllr Zuma.

The Executive Mayor further stated, “The contractor is still selling R5 million worth of electricity which belongs to the municipality, they no longer even transfer that money to our account and not even inform us on how much they are collecting but we are aware that it is above R5 million”.

“We have met with the Auditor General from Treasury and they declared that the contractor should be compelled to disclose the exact figures being collected

within GMM now we are going to court to compel them to give us statements for declaration on what they collected from the beginning of the contract and after their termination,” said the Executive Mayor in closing elaborating that the municipality intends on instituting a civil case for damages so that the contractor pays back every cent it owes to the municipality.

GMM has been investing on revenue generation through initiatives of identifying ghost vendors and those who have connected the electricity illegally in order to be able place itself in the position where it would be able to reduce the Eskom bill as well as Rand Water.

The past few weeks since the lauch early November have been said to be successful.

Seskhona Newspaper tried to contact Ideal Prepaid for comment on the allegations with no luck.

Ten year old girl suffers after caught in between a lover’s feud

A ten years old learner from Zamokuhle Primary School in eMbalenhle Ext 1 was left traumatized after the lovers feud between her father and the lady he was in a love relation ship with when the female lover allegedly burned the house.

The learner who is currently in grade 4 lost her school books, stationary and school uni form as they were completely destroyed by the fire just before the commencement of exams on 29 October 2022.

It is alleged that during the fateful day when the house was burned there was a grade 12 learner who was preparing for the exams inside the house at Ext 14 eMbalenhle when the ex lover set the house on fire.

It is further alleged that after burning the house, the ex-lover went to the owner of house and told him that the house was burning.

Two younger brothers of the victims of the victim were also adversely affected by the fire since they lost all their clothes, school books and school uni form in the fire.

Zinhle Nqcobo who is the mother of the child said that her baby-daddy’s ex-lover took her daughter without permis sion and hid her at her initia tor’s (gobela) at Ext 18.

The child was only found after community members attacked perpetrator who then pointed out to the police where she was hiding the child.

“The police went and recovered my child who was unharmed from the initiators place,” she added.

A case of arson was opened at eMbalenhle Police Station by the owner of the house but surprisingly in the statement given to the police, the complainant did not mention that the house was burned by

the ex-lover.

He merely mentioned that the ex-lover was the one who came and informed him about the burning house, therefore no arrest has been made till to date.

In an interview with Seskhona newspaper, one of the educators said that it was unfortunate that the relationship between two people ended at the expense of a child.

“The sad part is the parents of the will have to pay for the books which were destroyed in the fire because they were not

destroyed by a natural disaster,” said the principal.

One of the teachers in the lower classes (grade 1-4) made an initiative of getting the learner school uniform, shoes and a jersey.

Although the parents still have to pay for the books, the edu cators as a collective could not let that affect the child there fore school gave books to the learners so that she can be able to pray for her exams.

“We have also made arrange ments that she gets school

books so that her loss should not affect her studies,” said the junior HOD.

The petite learner said that she appreciates the help she received from her teachers as she received some school uniform.

Her class teacher said the little girl still needed school tracksuits for cold days, more pairs of socks, school shoes and school shirts.

RAF payout splits family after mother allegedly squandered her child's money

Three children remain homeless after their mother kicked them out of her house and embezzled her child’s RAF money.

The source informed to Ses’khona newspaper that she grew up with three siblings at eMbalenhle Gate 7 and her mother who never introduced them to their biological father for the past 29 years although they were willing to meet him. However, when they were growing up one of her siblings was struck by a car but survived that tragic incident.

Her mother as guardian claimed for RAF money on behalf of her minor child as the child was still young.

In 2018 the claimed money paid-out and her mother received capital that worth R1 181 060.00 before the disbursements and legal fees were deducted through her then lawyer.

The source further stated that after the money was released her mother got married with another man residing in KZN and they have four children together and abandoned all her first three children where she is focusing on her new family.

“My siblings and I were never

treated with kindness by our own biological mother, she chose the other family over us, she never introduced us to our biological father and also stole my sister RAF money and spent the money with other family” said the anonymous source.

In the beginning of 2022, the source and her siblings became suspicious about where their mother was spending all their RAF money because she never does anything for them including the child whom the money belongs to.

Anonymous stated that early this year, February 2022 their mother kicked all of them out

her house and she remained with a new family thereafter she bought a new house and a car in KZN where she’s currently residing and never welcomed her children to the old house and she sold meanwhile her children remain homeless.

“After we were kicked out of the house, we were homeless, and at that night we did not know where we going to sleep,” said anonymous

She further stated that she had to ask her neighbour to sleep only for that night as they didn’t have relative residing around them in eMbalenhle at that time, although her brother started sleeping on the

streets and involved himself in substances due to stress that her biological mother caused him and his two siblings, currently he is looking forward to going to rehab.

It is alleged that the siblings are receiving threats to scare them not to speak or report about the said incident.

However, until today the trio has not opened a case as and they remain homeless but they are looking for a place to stay and are pleading with the community for assistance so that her sister can go to school as she matriculated but she doesn’t have money to go to tertiary.

Govan Mbeki Unemployment forum stops Kinross sewer project

Cayos bloke loose at Ext 33 (Marikana) in Kinross when Govan Mbeki Unemployment Forum members invaded the project site on Monday, 14 November 2022, demanding for the contractor to cease operation and the workers to dispense from the project side until their demands have been met.

According to allegations, this followed after the forum demanded that the contractor Sipho Sezwe Trading’s headed by Mr Daniel Khumalo appoints two subcontractors from their database.

The parties could not reach an amicable solution until the contractor suggested that the forum can only give them a list of six people who will be employed as general workers.

According to project committee members, the meeting was held on a Friday in October at the project site in Kinross and the forum was only given three days to bring the six people who are

ought to be appointed as general workers.

“They only showed up after the time they were given has already lapsed and the contractor had already appointed other people to fill in those positions due to the backlog of the project. That is when they decided to come and stop the project.

We do not interfere in projects which have been awarded to develop eMbalenhle neither do we demand jobs there or contracts,” said one of the ward committee members.

Seskhona Newspaper also received a call from a source accusing Pr Councillor Daniel Khoza of the EFF of acting violently and alleging that on the day of the incident during the altercation between the forum and the steering committee he slapped a certain female across the face.

When asked about the allegations, Cllr Khoza said, the woman who was siding with the forum cursed him and slapped him across the face and kept on provoking him that is when he pushed her backwards trying

to prevent her from hitting him again.

Member of the Kinross Anti unemployment Forum Vusi Mabhena alleged that Pr Councillor Daniel Khoza is interfering with the hiring

process of sewer project by hiring people from Nelspruit however when asked who might the people be Vusi refused to reveal any identity.

Vusi therefore mentioned that as the Kinross Anti

unemployment Forum saw it fit to ally with Govan Mbeki Unemployment forum to fight the said corruption by Cllr Daniel Khoza that has been taking place at the project site for some time. .

Kinross community says they have lost faith in their ward councillor

Community members of Kinross engaged in a meeting on Tuesday, 15 November 2022 at Sasol Club in Kinross. The purpose of the meeting was to address service delivery and budget issues in the Thistle Grove and Kinross town.

Cllr Rose Nkabinde and the Director of Development and Planning were to chair the meeting which became unsuccessful as the aggrieved community members stormed out of the meeting. This is after the frustrated members of the community raised allegations that Cllr Rose Nkabinde never responds to their grievances as the ward councillor of the area.

The meeting is taking place after the two meetings which were scheduled for September and October, respectively.

Amongst the grievances are electricity and water issues

affecting the area. Before the meeting could not even proceed as the members of the community complained about not being issued with the minutes of the previous meeting and a report from Cllr Rose on solutions. The director from the electricity department at GMM, Mr Maswanganye tried to calm the situation which was in vain as the members had already proposed to suspend all payments towards the municipality until it responds to all their grievances.

”Moving forward, the community will have to draft a memorandum to be submitted to the office of the speaker, once the memorandum is submitted with their complaints therefore it can then be addressed, because the way it was the meeting was not structured,”said the director in his comment when asked of the way forward since the meeting was unsuccessful.

Sakhisizwe farm residents left stranded after road collapsed

Residents at Sakhisizwe farm were left stranded after the alternative route over the water pipeline project of Evander Gold Mine collapsed on Saturday, 18 November 2022 at around 16h00.

The residents could not enter nor exit the residential area as there is no alternative route. Evander Gold Mine has servitude rights over Sakhisizwe farm hence the water pipeline passes through the community from old Bracken Mine.

It is further alleged that the contractor failed to barricade or place warning signs over the area which has not been covered yet and a driver of a van

fell victim of the circumstances after he drove into the pipeline hole last night.

Community members came out in numbers to wait for a representative from Evander Gold Mine of Senior Authority with no luck. The Chief of Sakhisizwe Farm, Mthimunye along with ward 19 councillor, Sibusiso Mazibuko also contacted management of Evander Gold Mine to assist in resolving the issue with no luck until they sent someone from their technical deparment who mediated and resolved for a formal meeting between community representatives and the mine. According to Cllr Mazibuko, the contractor excavated and installed the

pipes in the pipeline system and failed to close the hole.

"The contractor should have used denite to fill the whole so that the soil does not sink preventing the collapse on the surface which was not the case in this instance.

Community members demanded that the pipeline project is terminated with immediate effect. However, on Monday 20 November 2022, the mine and the community where able to put their differences as the mine has promised to refurbish the royal house at Sakhisizwe farm, develop the road infrustructure as well as create jobs for the community which is close proximity to the gold mine.
