I struggle to understand the fascination with crossovers. I don't like the way these compacts-on-pumps handle. The steering is indirect and lacks feel. They are bigger which makes them more work for maneuvering in tight and busy city streets. The fact that most crossovers are based off on front-wheel drive subcompacts don't help with fun driving experience one bit. And before you tell me that crossovers are not city-only cars, let me point out the fact that they tend to be too underpowered for any driving outside the paved roads of the city. Yes, there are some powerful and off-road capable crossovers out there. However, these capable crossovers are also way above the spending power of most people. Crossovers are popular for two reasons. One is the higher seating position that makes people feel safer. Never mind the fact that the taller height makes them more likely to rollover. The other is the pricing.
