Moncton is more than just a lively town in beautiful New Brunswick it’s a hidden treasure for people who love fitness, nature and outdoor adventures. Situated between the Bay of Fundy and the Acadian forests, this area offers many chances to stay active while enjoying some of the most dramatic views in Atlantic Canada.
As an outdoor enthusiast myself, Moncton’s beautiful landscapes never cease to amaze me. Whether you’re an experienced athlete or simply want to be active, there’s something for everyone here.
Here are a few of my favourite spots:
TheRiverfrontTrail
Moncton’s Riverfront Trail is popular with joggers, cyclists and walkers. It runs along the Petitcodiac River and provides stunning sights of the famous tidal bore, which passes by twice daily This well-kept path is perfect for a peaceful morning jog or an evening walk with friends and family.
The trail also connects to other green areas, letting you easily extend your trip into nearby parks or the lively downtown region.

MagneticHillandBeyond
Those who like hiking can visit Magnetic Hill Park. Gentle trails and rewarding views abound here. The rolling hills offer a good workout, surrounding you with Moncton’s natural beauty. It’s perfect for families, with paths suitable for hikers of all skill levels
Going further leads to Irishtown Nature Park, where forested paths and calm lakes give a quiet escape from the city’s fast pace.

KouchibouguacNationalPark
Just an hour from Moncton, Kouchibouguac National Park is a dream for outdoor lovers With its wide beaches, salt marshes and biking trails, it’s ideal for activities like birdwatching and paddleboarding Spending a day or a weekend here is a great way to recharge while staying active.
Along with these, Moncton has a lot of lovely parks and other means of staying active. Many parks have yoga sessions, and local clubs organize group runs, offering numerous chances to connect with others who share your love for staying active.
Centennial Park turns into a wonderland for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in winter, proving that fitness and nature can be enjoyed all year.
Life in Moncton balances urban ease and outdoor adventure perfectly. Being active here does not only help physical health; it’s a way to connect with nature and develop a greater appreciation for the beauty around us.
