Due to millenia of exile, persecution, social ostracization and scapegoating, the Jewish community has survived through our strength in the diaspora. However, the world Jewish population in 2024 only numbers about 16 million people. Our diaspora communities many times are viewed as outsiders especially, with the world projecting the conflict in the Middle East onto all Jews worlwide. However one aspect of unity amonf all people is food. Food is a method of sharing culture and history. As DC lacks a presence of kosher food, this project aims to create a fully kashrut food hall and cultural space for the evergrowing Jewish community and those interested in learning about our history and culture.

Despite millennia communal strength in the diaspora. The international Jewish Jewish diaspora communities are commonly , especially with public opinion projecting the conflict in Jews worldwide. One method of unity among people is the sharing of food, as it establishments offering kosher food, this project aims to create a kashrut food hall and cultural space for the evergrowing local Jewish community and those interested in learning more about Jewish history and culture.

Dallas, Texas is a hub of creativity and divesity, with a large Gen-Z population to help it grow. As this project is set in an adaptable city with influences from many different cutures, it is the perfect location for NEXT to truly demonstrate its community principles. However, not all areas of the city have the same opportunities. Dallas, split by the Trinity River, faces a severe socio-economic divide. At this location, NEXT will be including a community outreach center to help bridge this divide. Using the concept of “fluid forking through open thresholds,” the design mimics the river’s movement through curved form, open plan, and forked divisions. The fluidity will encourage interaction between all users of the space.

As a philosophical visionary, Egan Frantz breaks the norms of societal thought and action through his art. While abstract, the disruptive nature of Egan’s art is apparent in his use of organic amongst a grid. This design, based on his piece “Rocking Horse” shown above, aims to mirror his efforts by breaking the grid. Strong curves and organic forms lie amidst strict linear patterns to peak curiosity and leave the user thinking about the space.
