Design Development Plan Streets Sidewalk Hiking TrailWalkway LandscapedBuildingsGreen SpaceConservedParkingGreen Space Pedestrian Walkway

TheSidewalks/Pathwaystandardwidthofa sidewalk will be 6 feet (1.8 m), encouraging residents and visitors to walk instead of traveling by car to explore the neighborhood. Unlike the pedestrian walkways that go further into nature, this pathway is for those who require accessibility accommodations. The slope of the sidewalks is far less steep and easier to navigate. Pathways are located between townhouses. Connecting them to the street and other networks.
TheTrailstrail’s purpose is for hiking and biking, providing a healthy lifestyle full of exercise and nature for residents and visitors. The slope is perfect for a challenging and adventurous course, while also promoting safety with its proximity to the park and districts.
Street
Streets (10m wide) Pedestrian Walkway Sidewalk Hiking Trail StreetsPathway(6.7m)
The thinner streets accommodate two way traffic with one lane for each side (22 ft/6.7m wide).
Streets The wider streets accommodate two way traffic: one side has one lane, but the other has two. The seconds lane is reserved for on street parking (32.8 ft/10m wide). This is on Sutter Avenue, the single family neighborhood, town home district, and Sutter View.
Hierarchy
Pedestrian Walkways
Unlike sidewalks, pedestrian walkways are wider, provide more lighting, and embellished in nature. These walkways are 10 ft (3m) wide. A well-lit path is crucial in preventing crime accompanied with close intersections, preventing pedestrians from being alone for long periods. Because the walkway is surrounded by nature the path is similar to a trail, the slope will be steep and is not recommended for those who need assistance. Because the walkway is wide enough for vehicles it doubles as an access road for the commercial and mixed use development.
Parking will be provided by driveways or parking lot.

Block A: Mixed Use
Number of Buildings 6 Buildings and 1 Parking Garage (4 levels with 256 spaces total)
DetailsThis district is a warm but busy/interactive environment. The building has brick features with modern components, creating a sense of home mixed with economic prosperity. The mixed-use area is used mostly during the day, while the commercial at night. The residents include 20-40-year-olds ranging from those living alone to people with a small family. During the day most of the residents go downstairs to work in their companies office or use Westwood Northern to start their journey to work. The employers of the mixed-use space are owners of small businesses or small local offices for corporations (ex. AARP).
Ground Cover and Units 181,800 sq ft and 228 Units
DensityHigh Density Setbacks6ft sidewalks and 20 ft setback
DetailsThe commercial district is full of Cincinnati shops and restaurants, along with a few well-recognized local shops/restaurants. Less-known stores will open next to the recognizable ones to increase awareness. This creates an encouraging platform to support minority business owners to flourish and attract new customers. When businesses start to close visiting residents from other districts will take the pedestrian walkways back home.
The number of users averages around 500-1,000 a day depending on the season, with activities ranging from events with food trucks, holiday events/sales, and casual or slightly formal nights out with friends or family. It differs from its neighboring districts by the number of users. This district is the busiest, but not crowded, part of English Woods.

Block C: Institutional and Park Number of Buildings 5 Buildings with 1 Parking Lot with 328 Spaces Ground171,125Cover sq ft DensityMedium Density Setbacks6 ft sidewalks and 26 ft setback. Details This district brings a playful, educational, and resourceful atmosphere to English Woods. The institutional side accommodates educational opportunities for those young and old with a learning center containing a daycare and programs ranging from algebra to GED programs. The beautiful park across the street will be full of activities for all ages. Creative playgrounds for children, a calming pond for adults, and well-landscaped paths with benches and views for the elderly. The only employer in this district is the company that owns the training center and neighborhood market (incorporated into the recreation center). The district is busiest during the day and moves into the park at night, but not too late into the evening as everyone eventually walks back to their homes. The market has a greenhouse as the top level, creating green infrastructure and a beautiful wedding facility. The number of users ranges from 100-500 a day between new students at the training and learning center, customers at the market, events in the park, recreation center, or library. Other activities include small artists in the plaza in front of the recreation center to showcase the talent within the neighborhood. About 60-70% of the users will be sole residents of English Woods. Many neighboring visitors are welcome to use the same resources to further their educational knowledge/attainment or take a nice walk in the park. It differs from other districts with its creative atmosphere. This space encourages people to always progress, no matter their age, gender, race, or any circumstances they face.
Number of Buildings 38 Buildings and On Street Parking & Parking Lots (150+ spaces) Ground Cover and Units 199,800 sq ft and 152 Units DensityMedium Density Setbacks6ft sidewalk and 20-25 ft setback. DetailsWith a green and stone exterior it favors Sutter View, further pushing the woods atmosphere and including pre-existing features of the neighborhood. Making the townhouses similar to Sutter View was important to help blend the neighborhood into the existing surroundings. Preventing buildings from seeming out of place and adding to the overall character of the neighborhood.

DetailsThe only employer in this district is the company that runs the senior living facility. The area is light during the day as most residents are at work, receiving care, at school, or in the park. During the night, residents begin returning home to settle down for warm bowls of food and restful sleep. The number of users ranges from 400-500 people a day, including the residents and visiting families and friends to the neighborhood. Activities will occur within homes with occasional block parties when it’s safe to do so again. Residents will come outside to sit, jog, run, or play near their homes or around the entire neighborhood. The differentiation between this district and the others is privacy. The area is for English Woods residents and their invited visitors, promoting a safe space to grow old or start a family.
DetailsWith a sense of community and home, this district contains single-family housing and senior living facilities. The single-family area is full of young families with 3-5 kids of all ages. The senior living facility will accommodate those who require full assistance to independent living. These facilities replace Marquette Manor and would house those same tenants plus a few more. Seniors will have all essentials on one side of the street. The area has multiple traversable paths to ensure complete access to residents. Single-family residents will have safe crosswalks to access all parts of English Woods.

Mixed Use and Commercial Hillside Section
This section shows the Mixed Use and Commercial section of English Woods. This is located at the top of the neighborhood. There is plenty of green space and nicely sized sidewalks to accommodate the foot traffic. There is parking available on the streets for those who are making a quick trip or stop to the neighborhood. The slope of the section begins to towards the back of the mixed building. Developing on mostly flat land was a priority and having mixed use on the slope was the easiest way to accommodate the topography.

Establishing resources and a park will begin to bring attention to English Woods, drawing in new residents, businesses, or neighbors. This will make it easier to attract business owners to move or add a location to/ in English Woods. The trails and pedestrian walkways will also be constructed during this phase.
Phase Three: Economic District Finally the economic side of English Woods is established with a full neighborhood of residents to support the businesses. Helping to reinsure companies don’t close or fail before development is finished. The location will also draw in neighbors and other Cincinnati residents, creating a flourishing economic district.
Phase One: New Residential District Before demolishing Marquette Manor new housing needs to be developed to accommodate the residents of the building. Growing from the pre-developed Sutter View will help initiate the sense of community at an early stage. Making the transition easier for those there and those to come.
