Now that you have completed your Welcome Call, signed your agreement with us, and received your Success Kit, it’s time to start on the path to becoming debt free! STEP 1: Save our Client Success Team’s phone number to your cell phone. Adding National Debt Relief to your list of contacts as “NDR” will help you easily distinguish our number (888-660-7427) from debt collectors who may call.

Debt relief—also known as debt settlement or debt negotiation—is a process by which your debt is negotiated down to a reduced a mount and paid off in a lump sum.

At National Debt Relief, our goal is to help you resolve your debts and restart your life as quickly as possible.

Here’s how it works: 1. W e help you set up a dedicated savings account into which you make affordable monthly deposits.

2. W e negotiate with your creditors to significantly reduce the balances you owe.

3. E ach time we reach a settlement with one of your creditors, we will contact you to obtain your permission to accept the offer and release the funds from your account. Most offers are time-sensitive, so please respond promptly.

4. This process continues, one account after another, until all your debts are resolved.

We do not charge a fee for our services until a settlement is reached AND approved by you. Settlements generally range from 30% to 70% of the outstanding balance. And while no case is typical, most of our cases are resolved in 24 to 48 months.*

Frequently Asked Questions 1. Why should I use National Debt Relief to settle my debts as opposed to doing it myself?

Of course, you could try to settle your debts on your own. But that could take a lot of time and effort, and most people simply don’t have the time and necessary skill set to deal with creditors effectively.

Our professional negotiators have longstanding relationships with creditors and collection agencies, and they know just how hard to push to get your balances down. In addition, they are well-trained on how to assess your personal financial situation and negotiate settlements based on these factors.

2. What types of debt can be settled?

Debts that can be settled include credit cards, business debts, medical debts, unsecured personal loans, certain kinds of student loans, and more. Debt settlement is not an option for certain types of debt, such as a house that can be foreclosed on or a car that can be repossessed, although we have been able to resolve deficiency balances on repossessed collateral.

3. Is it acceptable to resolve my debt for less than I borrowed?

By now you’ve most likely paid your creditors a significant amount of interest and, in some cases, you may have even paid them back more than the amount you originally borrowed. You have also likely experienced some sort of hardship that has prevented you from paying back your full balance. We understand.

Creditors make risk assessments when issuing credit, and the chance of default is taken into consideration because they are aware that situations may arise that may prevent debtors from paying back the full amount borrowed. Our shared goal is to pay back your creditors and/or debt collectors an amount they are satisfied with while also saving you as much as possible. It’s important to note that all resolutions require acceptance by both parties; your creditor(s) are provided with details on your situation so that they are able to legitimately forgive a portion of your debt.

4. Should I keep paying my credit card bills?

If you qualify for debt settlement, it’s likely you have already fallen behind on your payments. When you enroll with National Debt Relief, you will make deposits into a dedicated savings account from which we will pay your creditors based on the agreedupon settlement offers that you have approved.

5. Who holds my dedicated savings account while I’m waiting on a settlement?

Your funds will be held in an FDIC-insured trust account at Global Client Solutions. This account will be opened in your name and you will have total control over its funds. The money collected in this account will be disbursed only after a settlement is reached with a creditor and you have agreed to the offer. Any funds remaining in the account when you complete your program will be returned to you.

6. Should I include all my debts in a debt settlement program?

We strongly encourage you to include all your qualified debts into the program (minus secured debts such as a home or car loan). Open credit cards make it difficult for us to negotiate with your creditors if they see you are settling on some accounts but not others. That said, if you have one credit card with a low balance that you can quickly pay down to zero, then it may make sense to hold onto it for emergencies. Your debt specialist can help you make the best decision based on your specific situation.

7. What happens if I can’t afford to make payments during my program?

Our clients are experiencing legitimate financial hardships, so we understand if it may become difficult at times for you to sustain required deposits to resolve your debt. Our Client Success Team will work to accommodate you and defer deposits when necessary, provided you give notice of five business days. With that said, we will work with you to make sure that you stay on track with your program. By deferring deposits, you risk losing attractive settlement offers and prolonging the program’s duration. Our common goal is to make you debt-free as soon as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions 8. Would refinancing my house, applying for an unsecured loan, or transferring my balance be better options for me to resolve my debt?

To help you answer this question, consider:

Refinancing your home depletes the equity you have worked hard to build and will put you in a position where you have to gradually buy your house back again.

Unsecured personal loans carry higher interest rates (they are not tied to collateral) and will likely result in higher monthly payments and more interest paid overall. Also, it’s important to consider that you may not be approved for loans large enough to pay off all of your unsecured debt.

Balance transfers are considered a temporary means of repaying your debt. Like unsecured loans, balance transfers require that you open another line of credit. Although many creditors offer this option with 0% promotional interest rates (after paying an initial transfer fee), these offers typically expire within 12–18 months. If you cannot pay off your entire debt within this time frame, you once again become responsible for paying interest.

While these options may be suitable for consumers with very low debt amounts, we recommended debt relief services for those with unsecured debt that exceeds $7,500.

9. If possible, would it be more beneficial for me to take a loan from a friend or family member versus pursuing debt relief?

There are benefits to considering loans from friends and family (in some cases, they may not charge you interest or may offer more flexible repayment terms).

However, unless your family member is paying off your debt without any expectation that you will pay it back, you will still need to repay what you’ve borrowed.

In addition, borrowing from someone close to you may come with unwanted conditions or “strings” attached, and owing a friend or relative money may cause tension in your relationship. If you do choose to borrow from friends or family

members, you have the option to use that loan to pay off your debt-negotiation program in one lump sum. In this case, the amount borrowed would be less than if you needed a loan to repay your balance in full.

10. How does debt relief differ from bankruptcy?

Our debt-relief program is an alternative to declaring bankruptcy. To declare bankruptcy, you must go to court and file either a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13, both of which will show on your public record. With Chapter 7, your assets and income may be evaluated to determine your qualification and liability, whereas with Chapter 13, you repay your creditors under court order. In contrast, we conduct a private mediation of your debts to reach an amount that satisfies both parties. When you finish paying your creditor(s) the amount agreed upon, your account is considered settled.

11. How does debt relief differ from consumer credit counseling?

Consumer credit counseling companies require that you pay back your creditors 100% of the principal balance due; their main benefit is that they can lower the interest rate on your debt. In contrast, National Debt Relief negotiates and can reduce your principal balance down to a fraction of what you owe. In addition, creditors and/or debt collectors will also forgive any associated interest and fees on your debt. For this reason, debt relief is considered to be more cost effective than credit counseling.

12. How will debt settlement affect my taxes?

The Internal Revenue Service generally regards forgiven debts as taxable income. However, IRS Form 982, Reduction of Tax Attributes Due to Discharge of Indebtedness, may exempt you from this tax. Please contact a tax adviser to discuss this issue further.

Personal Information We Collect The personal information that we collect about you comes from the following sources: • I nformation we receive from you, such as your name, address, and telephone number, or other information that you provide to us over the phone or in documents or applications, • I nformation about your transactions, such as your account balances with your creditors, payment histories, account activity, and all other information that may be contained in your credit card statements or other reports relating to your debt, and • I nformation we receive from consumer reporting agencies and other sources, such as your credit bureau reports, collection agency reports or other communications, and other information relating to your payment histories, creditworthiness, annual income, or ability to satisfy your obligations.

Parties to Whom We Disclose Information: We may use and share your financial and credit information with other companies in the National Debt Relief, LLC family of companies, its affiliates, and business partners to identify and prescreen you for peripheral programs that we believe may benefit you. We may also disclose such information in order to affect or carry out any transaction that you have requested of us or as necessary to complete our contractual obligations with you.

We may also share your information with service providers that perform business operations for us, companies that act on our behalf to market our services, or others only as permitted or required by law, such as to protect against fraud or in response to a subpoena. We may also share or transfer our information in the event we transfer or sell your account or our business assets to another provider. Otherwise, we do not share, transfer, or otherwise disclose your nonpublic personal information to any company or individual unless it is directly related to carrying out the services you have requested of us.

By carrying out those services, we may disclose your information, as we see fit and as permitted by law, to your creditors, credit card companies, collection agencies, banks, and other entities and individuals specifically necessary to effect, administer and perform our services.

How We Protect Your Information We train our employees to protect all customer information. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural controls that comply with government standards. We authorize our employees, agents and contractors to get information about you only when they need it to do their work with us. We do not share your information with any companies unrelated to the specific services we are obligated to provide to you.

Opt Out Rights (to limit our sharing) If you do not want your Nonpublic Personal Information disclosed to affiliated or nonaffiliated third parties, you may “opt out” of those disclosures, meaning that you may tell us not to make those disclosures (other than disclosures that are permitted by law even if you opt out). If you opt out, we will not disclose this information to such third parties to independently market products or services to you, but we may include their offers in billing statements and other routine communications that we send to you in connection with servicing your business relationship with us.

Please note: If you are a new customer, we can begin sharing your information 30 days from the date that we send this notice. When you are no longer a customer, we continue to share your information as described in this notice. However, you can contact us at any time to limit our sharing.

To opt out, contact us via telephone or e-mail. An opt out election by you or others who maintain a relationship with NDR will be effective for all persons that your relationship relates to. Once you opt out, there is no need to do so again for the same business relationship. Questions? Information For Vermont, California and Nevada Customers: In response to a Vermont regulation, we automatically treat accounts with Vermont billing addresses as if you requested that NDR not share your information with nonaffiliated third parties, and that we limit the information we share with NDR affiliates. And if we disclose information about you to nonaffiliated third parties with whom we have joint marketing agreements, we will only disclose your name, address, other contact information, and information about our transaction and experiences with you. In response to a California law, we will automatically treat accounts with California billing addresses as if you requested that NDR not share your information with nonaffiliated third parties except as permitted by the applicable California law.

We will also limit the sharing of information about you with our affiliates to comply with all California privacy laws that apply to us.

Residents of the State of California may request a list of all thirdparties to which we have disclosed certain information during the preceding year for those third-parties’ direct marketing purposes. For all requests, you must put the statement “California Shine the Light Privacy Request” in the body of your request, as well as your name, street address, city, state, and zip code.
