JOSH TURNER, THE GIPSY KINGS, BIG & RICH COMING TO SENECA CASINOS IN SEPTEMBER NIAGARA FALLS and SALAMANCA, N.Y. – September will sizzle as one of country music’s hottest young stars – Josh Turner, flamenco rumba legends The Gipsy Kings and the raucous country duo Big & Rich fill the Seneca Casinos’ 2,400-seat Events Centers with plenty of energy for the end of summer. In addition, five musically diverse acts are booked for late September and early October at the 440-seat Bear’s Den Showroom in Niagara Falls. Josh Turner, whose hit single “Time Is Love” earned the distinction as the No. 1 Billboard Country Song for all of 2012, comes to Seneca Allegany Events Center in Salamanca, NY, on Sunday, September 8, for a 5 p.m. performance. Since Turner’s 2003 debut, four of his songs reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country charts, and each of his five albums charted in the top three positions – including No. 1 for his latest album, Punching Bag. At age 35, he is one of the youngest members of the Grand Ole Opry and possesses a distinct low-range vocal. Tickets for the performance start at $25 and go on sale Friday, July 26, at noon. The Gipsy Kings – comprised of brothers from two Spanish gypsy families – perform at Seneca Niagara Events Center on Friday, September 20. The group became international sensations soon after their 1987 debut and introduced “Rumba Gitano” to the world – a

musical genre combines South America’s Rumba rhythm with Flamenco guitars for an upbeat, dance-inducing sound. “Bamboleo” from the Gipsy Kings’ self-titled album became the group’s first major hit, and the album spent 40 weeks on the charts in the United States. The Gipsy Kings also scored another Top 10 international hit with “Baila Me” in 1991. Tickets to see the band live start at $40 and are on sale now. The party atmosphere will continue – country-style – at Seneca Allegany Events Center the following day on Saturday, September 21, as perennial fan-favorite act Big & Rich returns to Salamanca for a 7 p.m. show. Their stop in Western New York is part of a tour to promote their latest album, Hillbilly Jedi, featuring the song “That’s Why I Pray.” The fun-loving duo of Big Kenny and John Rich gained wide popularity in 2004 with the smash single “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy),” and followed with the hits “Comin’ to Your City” and “Lost in This Moment” in later years. Tickets for the concert start at $45 and are on sale now. Five acts, each very diverse in sound, are booked for mid-September through early October for the Bear’s Den Showroom, the intimate 440-seat stadium style theater where artists and fans can interact up close and personal. On Friday, September 13, singer/songwriter/producer Allen Toussaint performs the blues and R&B that made him one of New Orleans’ most influential musicians and earned him a 1998 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The following evening on Saturday, September 14, fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Richie Furay delivers the vocals and guitar that made him a sensation with the legendary band Buffalo Springfield. Later in the month, Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award–winner Booker T. Jones performs on Friday, September 27. Jones was the organist and lead vocalist for the popular soul band Booker T. and the MG’s. In addition, two shows are booked for the Bear’s Den Showroom in early October. First up, on Friday, October 4, is J.D. Souther Trio. Souther had a No. 1 hit in 1979 with the song “You’re Only Lonely,” but is best known for writing hit songs for some of rock and pop’s biggest names – including the Eagles (“Best of My Love,” “Heartache Tonight” and others) and Linda Ronstadt (“Faithless Love” and others). The following day on Saturday, October 5, blues guitarist and singer Coco Montoya takes the stage. Montoya played for many years with Albert Collins as well as John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers before going solo in 1995. The following year, he won the award for Best New Blues Artist from the Blues Music Awards.
