SVT Tribal Enrollment is now available year round.

Why should your family members be enrolled?

Being enrolled with Seldovia Village Tribe has many benefits for programs available to Alaska Natives. Being enrolled in your Tribe can help with housing needs, scholarships, and much more. Below is a definition of eligible membership from SVT’s Tribal Enrollment Ordinance.

Section 6 Voting Membership: Any blood descendent of any person who was originally enrolled to the Native Village of Seldovia - under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. Adoption is another method of membership.

Kachemak Voyager 2022 Season

Seldovia Bay Ferry 2022 season had a record setting year with 17,258 riders.

Seldovia Bay Ferry started the 2022 season May 26th with service through to September 12th. The M/V Kachemak Voyager provided service from Seldovia to Homer twice daily six days a week in the months of May, June, August and September; July service was provided 7 days per week. Seldovia Village Tribe is now offering Photo ID Tribal Cards.

To receive your new Tribal Card, we ask that you send a forward-facing head shot. This photo can be taken with a phone camera ,or if you would prefer to use a professional photo (such as school photo for child), they may be emailed to tgallien@svt.org. Key To The City

Seldovia Village Tribe issued an invitation to Senator Lisa Murkowski to visit Seldovia on July 3rd as the City Government celebrated 60 years as a First Class City. At the event, Crystal Collier welcomed the dignitaries and attendees to the traditional lands of Seldovia Village Tribe and spoke of the importance of working together as community. Seldovia Mayor Jeremiah Campbell honored Crystal with the Key to the City and thanked her for commitment to healthy partnership between agencies. (submitted by: Laurel Hilts)

Coming Home 2022, June 30th through July 3rd, was once again a great success. The celebration started off Thursday night with Family Bingo on the Alaska Tribal Cache’s deck with fun prizes, pizza, and floats. Friday afternoon at Outside Beach, SVT hosted a community picnic. Rick Harkness roasted pig as well as fresh red salmon for all to enjoy with more than 125 people in attendance. Saturday, July 2nd featured an All-School Reunion where staff and students along with their families enjoyed an evening of remembrance and laughs. July 3rd held the Key to the City, 60th Anniversary Celebration of Seldovia being a First Class City. Each of these Coming Home days also had kid activities for all ages, plus A Walk Down Memory Lane was the theme for this Coming Home’s photo displays, slide show and talking circle.

Housing

SVT’s Housing Department can help with HUD sponsored renovations, student housing costs, rental expenses and some first time home purchase expenses. These programs are for qualified Alaska Native/ Native Americans. We also have information on housing loans and application procedures.

Energy Assistance 2023

Seldovia Village Tribe has applications for 2023 Energy Assistance. Those households residing in the Seldovia area that are having trouble meeting their heating bills this winter are welcome to apply.

For more information and an application contact Debbie Cameron at 435-5255 Monday through Friday 9am-5pm.

Rooted & Rising Camp 2022

Seldovia Village Tribe hosted a seven (7) day camp the 10th-16th of July for Alaska Native/ American Indian students entering 9th -12 grade from the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District. A total of 12 students attended this camp. Five of these students were returning students from our 2021 camp. Rooted & Rising was held at the Sea Otter Cabins located at the head of Seldovia Bay.

Chimney Bushes for Use

With Fall upon us, wood stoves are beginning to be used to heat our homes. Seldovia Village Tribe has Chimney Brushes in several sizes available for free use for your annual chimney sweep.

Camp Director Shannon Custer organized a fun educational camp for the group, following a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) layout. Topics students were exposed to were:

Tide Pooling some of the Lowest Tides of 2022 Historical Tour of Seldovia Native Youth Olympic Demonstration
