Dear Old Sanawarians and benefactors of Sanawar, Warm Greetings from Sanawar!

As we are all well aware, our School is one of the oldest co-educational residential institutions in the world and has a most glorious legacy.

The heritage of Sanawar is priceless and each and every one of us values this unique and most precious inheritance.

It is now incumbent upon each one of us to not only maintain and restore our hallowed buildings and to safeguard our heritage but also to ensure that the School is able to deliver a curriculum that will ensure that our learners are future ready. It is most pertinent to note that, even as the School is making every effort to stay current and future ready, we are making every effort possible to maintain our heritage even as we upgrade our infrastructure.

In order to maintain the position that the School holds, we need to develop and augment our infrastructure, keeping in view the latest trends and best practices in the field of education and aligning these to include innovation, art integration, sport, hobbies as well as curricular activities. I am certain that you will appreciate that to develop the requisite infrastructure while restoring the existing buildings; the School needs much more funding as compared to an institution that is constructing modern infrastructure.

A key thrust is to improve the learning as well as the living environment of our students.

Sanawar has a School Development Plan which aims to address various areas of development, including infrastructure, facilities, and the environment. The plan encompasses various projects and initiatives that will ensure that the school continues to maintain its high standards and provide a world-class education to our students.

The successful implementation of the proposed projects is the key to our continued standing as an Institution of Excellence.

Overall, the School Development Plan for The Lawrence School, Sanawar includes several renovation and restoration projects aimed at enhancing the school's infrastructure while preserving its cultural and historical heritage. These projects range from the enhancing of our capacity to generate solar power to the restoration of key buildings such as Barne Hall, the Chapel, and the Central Dining Hall.

In addition to these renovation and restoration projects, the plan also includes the replacement of furniture, refurbishing of classrooms and the retrofitting of our dormitories to provide students with a comfortable and world class learning environment.

The proposed projects are focused on improving the school's facilities while maintaining its historical and cultural significance. Proper planning and execution of these projects will ensure that The Lawrence School, Sanawar, continues to provide quality education to its students while preserving its heritage for future generations.

OUR PROJECTS 2. Renovation of Swimming Pool & Squash Courts

1. Teachers’ Homes We care for our teachers.

Since we have inadequate Teachers’ Homes, our aim is excellence in teaching and good homes for teachers with an objective of happy teachers and promoting teachers’ wellbeing. For this we need to build new Teachers’ Homes and renovate existing teachers’ homes.

Swimming Pool: Our newly built state-of-the-art swimming pool measures 25x11.72 meters and complies with the CBSE School Standards, with a depth ranging from 3.5 to 5.5 feet. This pool is a built & designed to our commitment to providing a safe and enriching environment for our students. The pool is designed with the latest technology:

Filters: Employing latest technology, our pool is equipped with filters that adhere to international quality standards, ensuring pristine water quality and safety.

Liner Pool: We have replaced the old tile-based pool with a cutting-edge liner pool manufactured in France, meeting top-tier international standards.

Two Squash Courts: In addition to the swimming pool, we aim to introduce two squash courts.

These courts will not only foster a love for squash among our students but also promote a culture of sportsmanship and healthy competition.

Heat Pumps: Embracing international standards, our pool is outfitted with heat pumps, guaranteeing optimal water temperature and comfort.

3. Renovation of SSC Multi Purpose Hall The present roof, having weathered with time, is now showing signs of aging. It’s in urgent need of renovation to preserve this integral space within our esteemed institution. The aged roof has leakages in various areas, compromising the integrity of the Heritage wooden floor below.

This issue not only impacts the infrastructure but also hampers our students' sporting activities. The Sports Complex is a hub of active engagement, where students not only take part in various sports but also utilize the multipurpose hall for functions and examinations. The current state of the roof these activities, affecting both their sports and academic endeavors.

4.Restoration of old Shooting Range above Barne Field Project Overview: Location: The shooting range is planned to be situated near the Heritage Wall, strategically positioned to ensure convenience and aesthetic integration.

Budget: The project has been planned with a budget of 1 crore to ensure the implementation of high-quality facilities and infrastructure.

Construction: The structure will be designed using a light-gauge steel frame (LGSF) to minimize the load on the hill, ensuring structural integrity while complementing the surrounding environment.

Facilities: Modern Amenities: The shooting range will encompass all modern facilities necessary for an optimal sporting experience, including acoustics designed to enhance concentration and foster a deeper love for sports among our students.

Objectives: Fundraising: This initiative aims to raise funds through donations from benefactors who share our vision for promoting sports and enhancing the school's infrastructure.

Benefits: Enhanced Sporting Opportunities: The establishment of this shooting range will provide students with a platform to develop their skills, fostering a culture of sportsmanship and dedication.

Community Engagement: It will also serve as a facility open to the community, encouraging greater involvement and interaction with our school.

6. Garden City field Restoration Project Sponsor Amount– 300 Lacs

5. Development of Hangouts: On the basis of New Hangout like Birdwood Hangout, Its proposed to have more hangouts near Art Room, Parker Hall,etc.

The development of hangouts is an exciting project that aims to create social spaces for students to relax and socialize in a safe and controlled environment. The project includes the development of hangouts between the arts and computer classes, BD hangouts, PD hangouts, and Lily Ponds Hangout.

The hangouts will be designed to provide a space where students can interact with each other, share ideas, and engage in fun activities. The project will also include the development of a multi-sports playing and recreational area where students can participate in various sports and outdoor activities.

The hangouts will promote a sense of community and belonging among students, encouraging them to build relationships and form lasting friendships. The project will also help to improve the mental health and well-being of students by providing a space to relax and unwind after a busy day of studying.

Overall, the development of hangouts will contribute to the school's efforts to create a positive and engaging learning environment for students, fostering a sense of belonging and community among the student body.

The proposed Parker Hall Restoration & Renovation project includes the restoration and renovation of the hall. Parker Hall is a multi-purpose hall used for various functions and events, and the project will ensure that it is maintained to the required standards. Soundproof, Fireproof, more facilities.

The proposed Central Dining Hall project involves the renovation of the dining hall and kitchen. The dining hall is an essential part of the school's infrastructure, and the renovation project aims to ensure it meets the required standards for safety, functionality, and aesthetics.

The project includes the installation of soundproof and fireproof materials to ensure the dining hall is safe for use. The renovation of the dining hall and kitchen will involve the repair or replacement of existing structures, including seating, tables, and kitchen equipment.

The project will also include the installation of more facilities, such as better lighting, air conditioning, and heating, to make the dining hall more functional for students and staff. The renovation project will be completed with the aim of creating a modern and functional central dining hall that meets the needs of the school community.

Transformation of PARKER HALL (The Learning Resource Center) Areas to work on : Interiors’ aesthetic/design changes Increasing the shelving capacity for larger number of books for an expanding Library Library lounge furniture Computer desktops with increased capacity Collection display cases with microenvironment control to keep the display material preserved and maintenance free Conservation grade framing of flags displayed on the wall (after conservation) Conservation and preservation of the school’s heritage collection that needs to go on display Sponsor Amount – 55 lacs

9. Commissioning of Giri Water Project (1.5 lacs/day) In light of the prevailing water scarcity issue in Sanawar, we are embarking on the Giri Water Project. This initiative aims to address the water shortage by sourcing 1.5 Lacs litres per day from the nearby Giri River. Our strategic planning emphasizes the importance of a reliable, dependable, and sustainable water supply, essential for the entire economic life of the project.

Sponsor Amount– 450 Lacs: Expected date of Project Completion – Dec 2024

10. Sanawar Cares Scholarship Fund The school has set up a Scholarship Fund in the name of ‘The Sanawar Cares Scholarship Fund’ from the initial corpus of Rs. 21.50 lakh. The amount is invested in the bank, in which the School is maintaining its accounts and at the highest Rate of Interest. The interest proceeds from this fund will be utilized for providing scholarships on a need cum merit basis to students, for which the school has formulated the internal guidelines. It is also proposed to add 5% of the contribution of the Silver & Golden Jubilee Anniversary Batches to this Scholarship corpus annually.

With the intention to enhance the corpus, the school through the Fund Raising Committee will reach out to well-wishers.

11. Scholarship for Defense Students We are pleased to share with you the details of the Defence Scholarship which is being provided to the wards of the defence personnel for the academic year 2024-25 for your ready reference and kind perusal.

It is requested that this be shared with the O. S. fraternity, benefactors, and friends as well as with the well-wishers of Sanawar. May I request the members of the Fund Raising Committee to please appeal to them for supporting this noble cause.

12. Sanawar Maintenance To meet the evolving needs of our school and facilitate planned growth, we have meticulously developed a School Development Plan. This comprehensive plan is designed to address upcoming projects and infrastructure requirements over the next three years. For the maintenance of the existing infrastructure we need approx. Renovation of Class Room Furniture & Dormitory Furniture: The renovation of classroom furniture and dormitory furniture is an important project that aims to improve the learning and living environment for students. The project includes the modernization and upgrade of existing furniture to ensure that it is functional, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing. The furniture will be designed to meet the needs of modern-day teaching and learning methods, such as smart classrooms.

The new furniture will be soundproof and fireproof to ensure the safety of students and teachers. The design will also incorporate more facilities, such as storage space for books and personal belongings, and comfortable seating arrangements for prolonged sitting. The renovation of hostel furniture will create a more comfortable and welcoming environment for students living on campus.

The project will contribute to the overall improvement of the school's infrastructure, creating a positive learning environment for students. The upgraded furniture will provide an optimal learning experience, encouraging students to focus and remain engaged during class. It will also promote a sense of pride and ownership in the school's facilities among the students, teachers, and staff.

Upgradation of Sewage Treatment Plants: The installation of two Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) with 100 KLD at Butchery and PD with an ultra-filtration system is an important project that aims to reduce the school's impact on the environment. The project will ensure that the school's sewage is treated to the required standards before being released into the environment.

The STPs will be designed to treat sewage in an efficient and costeffective manner, using modern technology to ensure that the water is safe and clean. The ultra-filtration system will remove any impurities and contaminants from the water, making it suitable for reuse in non-potable applications such as gardening, washing, and cleaning.

The project will contribute to the school's efforts to promote environmental sustainability, conserving valuable water resources and reducing the school's carbon footprint. The installation of STPs will also promote awareness and education about the importance of responsible water management among students, teachers, and staff.

Overall, the project will have a positive impact on the environment, helping to reduce pollution and conserve valuable resources, while promoting sustainable and responsible practices.
