Guadalupe County Judge announces he will not seek re-election
Kutscher shares decision in a letter to residents Cindy Aguirre-Herrera
(Seguin) -- Guadalupe County Judge Kyle Kutscher announced Tuesday that he will not seek re-election, bringing to a close his tenure as the county’s top elected official. Kutscher has served the county since 2011, one term as county commissioner and the other three as county judge. In a letter to residents, Kutscher says the decision came “after much reflection and deep consideration” and expressed a desire to allow “someone new the opportunity to serve and continue the important work for Guadalupe County.” Serving as County Judge, Kutscher wrote, “has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Over the years, we have come together through challenges and triumphs, always with the shared goal of making Guadalupe County a better place for all its residents. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank each and every one of you who entrusted me with the privilege of representing you.” Kutscher highlighted the accomplishments achieved during his time in office, noting that they were the result of community effort.
“We have accomplished so much together, and none of it would have been possible without the hard work, dedication, and spirit of collaboration that our community embodies,” wrote Kutscher. “I am so proud of what we’ve achieved, and I am incredibly grateful for the friendships, the lessons learned, and the many ways in which this community has touched my heart.” Looking ahead, Kutscher emphasized his continued commitment to the county. “While this is the end of my formal service as County Judge, I remain committed to the wellbeing of our county and will continue to support our shared vision for the future in whatever way I can. I fully intend to complete my term and contribute in any way I can to ensure a smooth transition.” As of right now, Kutscher says he has no immediate plans for his next chapter. He did, however, want to give potential candidates plenty of time to consider the position prior to the filing period of Nov. 6 through Dec. 6, 2025. Kutscher will continue to serve the position as county judge through Dec. 31, 2026.
