Yea the sparrow hath found her an house, and the swallow a nest where she may lay her young: Even thy alters O Lord of hosts my King and my God.

Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: They will be always praising thee.

* Call to Worship (adapted from Psalm 1)

One: Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, but their delight is in the law of the Lord.

All: They are like trees planted by streams of water, yielding fruit in due season.

One: We gather at God’s gracious invitation, seeking the delight of God’s Word and will:

All: Good news for today, for tomorrow, for all God’s people and creation.

One: Let us worship God!

NETTLETON Invitation to Confession Prayer of Confession

Merciful God, your call is demanding.

You ask us to reorder our lives by the kingdom you are bringing in Jesus Christ. Yet we still pass by the ones you especially notice: people who are poor and hungry; people who weep. We have not stood with those who are hated, bullied, and excluded. We are too complacent, even complicit.

Forgive us, O Lord, and turn us back to your gospel. We pray this now, for our sake, and for the sake of your world; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Silent Prayer)

First Scripture Lesson

Jeremiah 17:5-8 (p.

Anthem How Can I Keep From Singing?

My life flows on in endless song above earth’s lamentations, I hear the real though far-off tune that hails a new creation. Through all the tumult and the strife I hear its music ringing. It sounds an echo in my soul, How can I keep from singing?

While though the tempest loudly roars, I hear the truth, it liveth. And though the darkness ‘round me close, songs in the night it giveth. No storm can shake my inmost calm while to that rock I’m clinging. Since love is Lord of heav’n and earth, How can I keep from singing?

I lift my eyes, the cloud grows thin; I see the blue above it, And day by day this pathway smooths since first I learned to love it. The peace of love makes fresh my heart, a fountain ever springing; All things are mine in love and joy! How can I keep from singing?

We Give Thanks to God

Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Invitation to Discipleship and Generosity

Offertory

Then, then shall the King say unto them upon His right hand,

Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world, from the foundation of the world. Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. Come, ye blessed of my Father.

Rev. Karen L. Lang

Come, Ye Blessed John Prindle Scott Caitlin Stewart, soprano (1877-1932)

Therefore, come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

Come, ye blessed of my Father, come, come, come.

Text: Matthew 25:34-36

I was an-hungered, and ye gave me meat; I was athirst, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in; Naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me, ye came unto me.
