Mill Pond Golf Club
Let me preface this with this, I have played here many times over the years, it has never gone well, aside from a hole or 2. Last time I made the mistake of booking an afternoon tee time on Fathers’ Day, so my 2pm tee time turned into closer to 3. Despite the delay, it didn’t play slow, coming in a lil over 4 hours. It was a pleasant surprise as I was expecting a 6 hour debacle.
The 1st hole didn’t go terribly. The water left me alone. I caught the sand in front of the green, coming out and going over, then back turned a decent start into a double bogey. The 2 nd hole there were people all over it from other holes. I think someone played my decent tee shot. The 2nd and 3rd holes are too close together, one of the few criticisms I have of the layout. There is nothing like losing a ball in the middle of the fairway, another double bogey. The third hole was just a struggle. The 4th hole was a nice ‘easy’ par 3, I stole a par.
The 5th hole is very nice, my score wasn’t. My slice decided to turn into a hook, so a few shots went out of bounds. It ended poorly. 6th hole is another par 3, hit long, saved par. 7, 8 and 9 I went back to struggling bad. So 3 holes, 3 snowmen on the score card. It was just one of those days.
So the back starts looking like an easy par 3. Wrong, the rough turned into more than I could overcome. On 11, I put a few in the water. Thankfully, the beer girl showed up. 12 is a par 5, again the rough did not play nicely. 13 was another foray into the rough. It ended as you can imagine. 14 is what looks like an easy par 3. Let’s just say my back 9 is still going poorly.
For the 15th hole, I think I hit every tree on the right side. 16 was a par 3 adventure where I should have just thrown the ball, it would have went further. I’d call it a back 9 melt down, but the front didn’t go well to begin with. The 17th hole was nothing special, another triple bogey. I’m ready to go home.
