August 5, 2018 Worship Service: 10:00 a.m.

Beginnings

Today

Nursery: The Nursery is available downstairs for children (newborn–age 3) during the morning service. Children’s Church (ages 4-10) meets today. Teachers and helpers will be in the Lobby area to meet you. Sunday School and Catechism classes are on hiatus until the new academic year. We hope to see you in the Fall. Communion: We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper together today. We welcome you to the table, whether you are a member or visitor, if you have searched your heart and can make the following statements: • I recognize that I am a sinner and I am genuinely sorry for all my sins. • I trust in Jesus Christ as my only Savior and Lord, and I earnestly desire to live my life in obedience to him. • I have made public profession of faith in Jesus Christ, and I am a member in good standing of His church. Two Offerings: We will collect two offerings this morning. The first one will be directed toward our Local Operating Budget (LOB), and the second benevolence offering will go to Bethany Christian Services. Thank you for being a prayerful and generous church body! Cookie Social: We will enjoy our monthly cookie social after the morning service. Thanks to those of you who brought treats to share.

ANNOUNCEMENTS Office Cleaning Underway

Service Opportunity with Chapel on the Ave

With Pastor Dan and Daniel Dovinh now on board, we are looking to reduce clutter in the offices. The staff has gathered excess books, files and other items in Room 206 and will leave them there for another week.

There will be an opportunity on Saturday August 25 to volunteer our talents at The Chapel on the Ave, the ministry location overseen by Geoff & Ashley Van Dragt.

Feel free to sort through these items to see if there is anything you might like to take home. We will find the appropriate way to discard of what's left. If your ministry group regularly uses Room 206 and has not already been contacted about shifting your meeting, please contact the Church Office for help making other meeting arrangements.

We hope to provide enough helpers to assist in improving the Fellowship Hall at the property in the U-District. This will be general labor—most of the work will involve the changing out of suspended ceiling tiles and helping remove/install light fixtures in that ceiling. More details will be forthcoming as planning progresses. Please contact Clarence Deelstra to request more information or to sign up!

Getting Connected We encourage you to get connected with a community group for fellowship and mutual support. It is far too easy to simply come to church on Sunday and then slip out. We want to get to know you better, so join us! If you would like more information about any group, please contact the Church Office.

Shoreline Christian Reformed Church is a gospel and grace-centered

community learning how to follow Jesus. We belong to a broader community called The Christian Reformed Church. What does this mean? We call ourselves… Christian… Because we belong to Jesus Christ and want to be His followers.

Reformed…

Church…

Because we’re part of the historic branch of the Christian church that follows the teachings of the leaders of the Protestant Reformation, who struggled to return Christianity to its Biblical roots. Because God has called us to be a fellowship of His people in the world.
