God is calling us to be a church marked by  Loving God  Connecting People  Transforming our World

May 6, 2018 Worship Service: 10:00 a.m.

In His Image Reverend Don Piper's sermon will be based on Genesis 1:26-28. He is a local retired CRC pastor and close friend in the community.

Today

Nursery: The Nursery is available downstairs for children (newborn–age 3) during the morning service. Children’s Church (ages 4-10) meets today. Teachers and helpers will be in the lobby area to meet you. Sunday School and Catechism classes will meet after the morning service and will dismiss by noon. All children from K-Grade 12 are invited. Note: There will be no classes next week on Mother's Day. Communion: We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper together today. We welcome you to the table, whether you are a member or visitor, if you can state the following: • I recognize that I am a sinner and I am genuinely sorry for all my sins. • I trust in Jesus Christ as my only Savior and Lord, and I earnestly desire to live my life in obedience to him. • I have made public profession of faith in Jesus Christ, and I am a member in good standing of His church. Two Offerings: We will collect two offerings this morning. The first offering will be directed toward our Local Operating Budget (LOB), and the second Benevolence offering will go to Acres of Diamonds. Cookie Social: We will enjoy our monthly cookie social after the morning service. Thanks to those of you who brought treats to share.

Next Week - Mother's Day

Message: Rev. Eric Likkel will be our speaker next week. He has served for the past three years as one of our Interim Pastors, and also leads a local congregation at Emmaus Road Church in Seattle. His sermon, "Living Way," will be a dramatic presentation in partnership with our ALIVE Youth Group.

Getting Connected We encourage you to get connected with a community group for fellowship and mutual support. It is far too easy to simply come to church on Sunday and then slip out. We want to get to know you better, so join us! If you would like more information about any group, please contact the Church Office.

Cadets (Boys grades 3-6) The goal of Cadeting is to help boys grow spiritually in all areas of life—devotional, mental, physical, and social. The Cadets meet most Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall during the school year, ending on May 16. GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior) This club for girls in grades 3-6 meets on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in various rooms at church. Our activities include Bible lessons, praise/worship, badges, crafts and other fun things. Our year-end party will be on May 9. ALIVE Youth Group (JH and HS students) This year, we are combining our JH and HS students in a group called ALIVE (always living in view of eternity). We meet on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, unless noted otherwise. Our next regular meeting is on Wednesday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room. Couples' Club (for Couples of All Ages) This group meets one Saturday evening per month from October through May. Our last meeting will be on Saturday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. Host: Dan & Chris Kredit Helpers: Mike & Kelly Vedders Brian & Ivonne Vander Vlies

Sunday Afternoon Bible Study (Adults all ages) This group of adults meets once a month in various homes every third Sunday from September through May. Our last meeting is May 20 at 3:00 p.m. We will continue our study by Dale Larsen entitled, "Growing Older and Wiser." Men’s Bible Study The Men’s Bible Study meets most Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Room. We are currently studying the Minor Prophets. All men are welcome, so please join us! Women’s Monday PM Bible Study The Women's Monday Evening Bible Study meets most Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in Rooms 201-202. We are going through a study guide from the Voice of the Martyrs entitled, I am N: Inspiring Stories of Christians Facing Islamic Extremists. Our last meeting of the year will be on May 14. Contact Carla Hoekzema for more information. Women's Fellowship Group Join us on Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m. We meet at Third Place Books in the Lake Forest Park Shopping Center. We will be reading When I Lay My Isaac Down by Carol Kent and will discuss it at our last meeting on May 31. Questions? Contact Harriet Jonkman.

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25 (NLT)

Shoreline Christian Reformed Church is a gospel and grace-centered

community learning how to follow Jesus. We belong to a broader community called The Christian Reformed Church. What does this mean? We call ourselves… Christian… Because we belong to Jesus Christ and want to be His followers.

Reformed…

Church…

Because we’re part of the historic branch of the Christian church that follows the teachings of the leaders of the Protestant Reformation, who struggled to return Christianity to its Biblical roots. Because God has called us to be a fellowship of His people in the world.
