ANNOUNCEMENTS TODAY - ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING

Deacon / Elder Nominations

After the service, we will vote to elect new Elder and Deacon leadership, approve the 2018 Budget, and approve the minutes from the Congregational meetings we had this year. Thank you for setting aside this important time in the life of our church. For information about the election of new leadership, see column at right.

One goal the Council has for 2018 is to increase the Council from four deacons and four elders to five of each. A second important goal is to work toward a rotation system for those serving. This is especially needed for the elders since the current four elders were all elected at the same time, and without any change would all go off at the end of 2018. It is our desire to not have more than two elders or two deacons’ terms end on any given year. The following process is the beginning of meeting these goals. Deacons: The congregation will be voting for two(2) deacons from the following nominees:

Join us tonight and journey back in time as Taproot Theatre presents, "Silent Night." A pair of strangers find themselves trapped with an angel, caught between time and continents. While not happy to find them in her space, the angel helps them find their way home. This charming Christmas comedy spans centuries and reminds us that peace on earth begins in the hearts of every individual. Silent Night is written by Daniel Stoltenberg and directed by Nathan Kessler-Jeffrey. TONIGHT AT 5:00 p.m. Come join us for this annual tradition. The evening begins with a string ensemble in the foyer, which helps to set the mood for the night. After the production, we will enjoy refreshments and hot cider in the Foyer. We hope to see you there!

6

Thera Anema Carol DeKoekkoek Ed Einfeld Brian Vander Vlies will be going off after a two-year term, which will put the deacons back on a good rotation schedule. Elders: The congregation will be voting to approve three elders: Steve DeKoekkoek Ken Oordt Eric van der Giessen Wayne Clousing and Tim Vanden Bos will be ending their terms after two years. However, to provide continuity the two elders going off will stay in office through March 31 (temporarily giving us seven elders). Beginning in April, we will then have five elders and be close to a good rotation system for future years. For more info, contact the Church Office

Birth Announcement Congratulations to Filipp & Katie Shabalov, who welcomed their new baby girl to the family on Wednesday, December 6 in the morning. Thank you for your prayers for this growing family, and for rejoicing with them at this blessed time.

We want to get to know you better, so join us! If you would like more information about any group, please contact the Church Office. Cadets (Boys grades 3-6) The goal of Cadeting is to help boys grow spiritually in all areas of life—devotional, mental, physical, and social. GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior) This club for girls in grades 3-6 meets on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in various rooms at church. Our activities include Bible lessons, praise/worship, badges, crafts and other fun things. We will enjoy our Christmas party on Dec. 13 and will have a break until Jan. 10. Enjoy the season with your family!

Men’s Bible Study The Men’s Bible Study meets most Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Room. We will not meet on December 25, nor on January 1. We will resume on January 8 in our study of Zechariah. All men are welcome, so please join us!

ALIVE Youth Group (JH and HS students) This year, we are combining our JH and HS students in a group called ALIVE (always living in view of eternity). We resume on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. in Rooms 201-202. We will start again with Lesson 10 in our study, Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World by Joanna Weaver.

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25 (NLT)

Shoreline Christian Reformed Church is a gospel and grace-centered

community learning how to follow Jesus. We belong to a broader community called The Christian Reformed Church. What does this mean? We call ourselves… Christian… Because we belong to Jesus Christ and want to be his followers.

Reformed…

Church…

Because we’re part of the historic branch of the Christian church that follows the teachings of the leaders of the Protestant Reformation, who struggled to return Christianity to its biblical roots. Because God has called us to be a fellowship of his people in the world.
