Announcements Word of Thanks from the Vanderwerff Family Dear church family, Thank you for all your cards, hugs, meals and expressions of sympathy following the death of Gerald. Thanks also to all of you who so faithfully remembered him in prayer over the last 15 years. ~ The Vanderwerff family Hurricane Relief Support The Deacons would like to offer each of us the opportunity to bring help and hope in Jesus' name to hurricane victims through World Renew's Disaster Response Service (DRS). Several members of our congregation have had the privilege to be on a World Renew DRS team following natural disasters in various locations. Please place your specifically marked (Hurricane) donations, checks made out to SCRC, along with your LOB offering in the collection plate on September 24. Another option is to place it in the collection box at the back of the Sanctuary. We will send the gifts to World Renew DRS in October. Senior Brunch The Deacons are planning a Senior Brunch for all "seasoned citizens." You are highly valued, and we want to honor you by feeding you a good meal and spending time together.

KidReach Tutors Needed Now that the school year has begun, students need help with their lessons. We have a good mix of KidReach students from Briarcrest and Shoreline Christian School. This ministry is growing, which is great news ... but this means we need more tutors! We meet on most Wednesday afternoons during the school year, tutoring students from 3:00-4:30 p.m. For more information, contact Vonnie Roosendaal or Dora van der Giessen.

Community Meal October 22 The entire SCRC family is invited to our next community meal. This time, we are planning a baked potato bar, with the church providing the baked potatoes. You may bring a delicious and creative topping or a dessert to share with others. Sunday, October 22 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Multi-Purpose Room If you are able to help with set up on Saturday, October 21, please contact Wayne Clousing.

Church Library - New Additions Now that cooler weather is here, are you ready to sit down by the fire with a good book? Visit our library before or after each service. New additions include Dangerous Territory by Amy Peterson, and Seven Lessons from Heaven by Dr. Mary Neal. You will also find DVDs of our worship services, as well as others for adults and children.

Sanctuary Interior Team (SIT) Update Exciting news! The new chairs for the sanctuary have been ordered and we are looking forward to their arrival. In addition, the Council has formed an ad hoc committee to assist the Building Team with planning the rest of the sanctuary renovation. The SIT members are Doug Heys, Phyllis Lont, Lisa Boer and Laurie Dykstra (chair). The committee is tasked with coming up with a plan to complete the renewal of our worship space. The Sanctuary Interior Team (SIT) will keep you posted on progress. We appreciate prayers for our work.

Getting Connected We encourage you to get connected with a community group for fellowship and mutual support. It is far too easy to simply come to church on Sunday and then slip out. We want to get to know you better, so join us! If you would like more information about any group, please contact the Church Office.

Cadets (Boys grades 3-6) The goal of Cadeting is to help boys grow spiritually in all areas of life—devotional, mental, physical, and social. The Cadets meet most Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall during the school year. GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior) This club for girls in grades 3-6 meets on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in various rooms at church. Our activities include Bible lessons, praise/worship, badges, crafts and other fun things. ALIVE Youth Group (JH and HS students) This year, we are combining our JH and HS students in a group called ALIVE (always living in view of eternity). We meet on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, unless noted otherwise. Our next meeting is on Wednesday, October 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room. Couples' Club (for Couples of All Ages) This groups meets one Saturday evening per month from October through May. We look forward to starting our new year at the Vedders' Home on Saturday, October 14 at 6:30 p.m. Call the Church Office if you would like to learn more about this group.

Sunday Afternoon Bible Study (Adults all ages) This group of adults meets once a month in various homes every third Sunday from September through May. Our next meeting is Sunday, October 15 at 3:00 p.m. We will continue in our study by Dale Larsen entitled, "Growing Older and Wiser." Men’s Bible Study The Men’s Bible Study meets most Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Room. We are focusing on the Book of Titus. All men are welcome, so please join us! Women’s Monday PM Bible Study The Women's Monday Evening Bible Study meets most Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in Rooms 201-202. We are continuing in our study, Embracing God's Grace. This study is one that does not require continuity, so all women are invited to join us at any time. Women's Thursday AM Bible Study Join us on Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in Rooms 201-202 as work through our study, Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World by Joanna Weaver. This includes video introductions and lessons for this 12-week study. Please contact Harriet Jonkman if you need help getting the book. Because of some travel schedules, our next meeting is Thursday, October 12. See you then!

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25 (NLT)

Shoreline Christian Reformed Church is a gospel and grace-centered

community learning how to follow Jesus. We belong to a broader community called The Christian Reformed Church. What does this mean? We call ourselves… Christian… Because we belong to Jesus Christ and want to be his followers.

Reformed…

Church…

Because we’re part of the historic branch of the Christian church that follows the teachings of the leaders of the Protestant Reformation, who struggled to return Christianity to its biblical roots. Because God has called us to be a fellowship of his people in the world.
