Announcements Interim Pastor Transition Brian Turnbull—one of our faithful interim pastors— will be finishing up his work at Shoreline CRC in order to devote all of his time to The House ministry, Emmaus Road CRC, and a new bi-vocational endeavor.

Faith & Family Night Sounders Game Join us for a special event with the Seattle Sounders. After the game, we will be able to hear an exclusive post-match testimony from a Sounders player on the role faith plays in sports.

Brian's last sermon to us will be on September 10. Make sure to be here that Sunday in order to say good-bye to him.

Sunday, September 10  6:00 p.m. CenturyLink Field 800 Occidental Ave S, Seattle

We are grateful for his work with our church for the last three years, and wish him God's richest blessing.

The Council has obtained a block of 20 tickets, and you may sign up for tickets in the Foyer. The cost is $26.00 per ticket. There are only four(4) tickets left, so sign up fast!

Calling all RINGERS! A handbell choir is being started in our congregation, with the first rehearsal scheduled this week. Monday, August 21  7:00 p.m. Sanctuary If you are interested in ringing or simply want to learn more about it, just show up or speak with Norm Jonkman.

Summer Choir needs YOU!

The choir serves as the worship team the last Sunday of each month. During the summer months, this is an open choir and anyone with a desire to sing may join us at 9:00 a.m. before worship to practice and learn the music to be used in the morning service. Come join us at 9:00 a.m. next Sunday, August 27 and help us “make a joyful noise unto the Lord!” 4

If you have already signed up for tickets, you may submit your payment to "Shoreline CRC" in the lock-box in the foyer. Once paid for, you can collect your tickets from Brian Vander Vlies. We look forward to this fun time together. Back to School Consortium Have you seen the “Back to School” box in the Foyer? It's time again to participate in a community effort to provide school supplies for low income families. You may place basic school supplies (paper, pens, pencils, binders, backpacks, etc.) in this box to help needy students. Another option is to contribute financially by placing a check to "Back to School Consortium" in our offering plate. Any donated amount will be appreciated. Monetary funds enable wholesale purchases for just the materials that are needed. Thank you! For more info, contact the Church Office

Gardening Opportunities We have a chance to serve in ministry by contributing our gardening skills and knowledge in several opportunites:

Youth Ministry News As we approach a new school year, we look forward to some changes in a new ministry year with our youth. We will be combining Junior High and Senior High groups (grades 7–12) in a new group called ALIVE (always living in view of eternity). This group will be led by our Youth Ministry Developer Nicole Moxon and Kim Clousing. ALIVE will start on September 13, and will usually meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 7:00–9:00 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room, unless noted otherwise. Please pray that God will help us reach the young people in our community so that they can learn to live in view of eternity with their Savior.

• Shoreline Christian School can use gardening help any day that is convenient for you. Email Paul Hopkins for more information at phopkins@shorelinechristian.org. • Briarcrest Elementary School needs help to spruce up the campus before school starts. We will be partnering with Hope Bible Fellowship Church on Saturday, August 26 from 9:00–11:30 a.m. Contact Greta Clousing or Vonnie Roosendaal for more information. • Shoreline CRC will soon hold another "work party" to help keep our church campus looking welcoming. If you are interested, contact Greta Clousing. Thank you for your service to the church and to our community!

Getting Connected We encourage you to get connected with a community group for fellowship and mutual support. It is far too easy to simply come to church on Sunday and then slip out. We want to get to know you better, so join us! If you would like more information about any group, please contact the Church Office.

Cadets (Boys grades 3-6) The goal of Cadeting is to help boys grow spiritually in all areas of life—devotional, mental, physical, and social. The Cadets are currently finishing summer break, and will resume on Wednesday, September 20. GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior), a club for girls in grades 3-6, meets during the school year on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. Our activities include Bible lessons, praise/ worship, badges, crafts and other fun things. The girls are enjoying the last of the summer break, and will meet again on Sept. 20. ALIVE Youth Group (JH and HS students) This year, we are combining our JH and HS students in a group called ALIVE (always living in view of eternity). We will kick off our year by meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 13. Thereafter, we will plan to meet in the MPR on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, unless noted otherwise. Pray for leaders Nicole Moxon and Kim Clousing as they plan for an exciting year of youth ministry. Couples' Club (for Couples of All Ages) This groups meets one Saturday evening per month from October through May. We are currently on summer break, but we look forward to seeing you in the Fall. If you would like to learn more about this group, you may contact the Church Office.

Grow Groups (Adults of all ages) Grow Group meets once a month in various homes every third Sunday from September through May. The year will kick off with a potluck lunch on Sunday, Sept. 17 at the Holly home. Formerly called the Grow Group, this group is changing its name to "Sunday PM Bible Study Group." We will utilize a book by Dale Larsen entitled, "Growing Older & Wiser." Hope to see you! Men’s Bible Study The Men’s Bible Study meets most Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Room. We continue to meet during the summer months, focusing now on the Book of Titus. Please join us! Women's Morning Bible Study We are restarting our Thursday morning Bible Study sessions on Sept. 14 at 9:30 a.m. in Rooms 201-202. We will be using the book, "Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World" by Joanna Weaver. This includes video introductions and lessons for this 12-week study. We invite women of all ages to join us! Women’s Evening Bible Study The Women's Monday Evening Bible Study has wrapped up the year of studying Colossians and Philemon. After a summer break, we will reconvene in September. We look forward to reconnecting then and starting up a new study!

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25 (NLT)

Shoreline Christian Reformed Church is a gospel and grace-centered

community learning how to follow Jesus. We belong to a broader community called The Christian Reformed Church. What does this mean? We call ourselves… Christian… Because we belong to Jesus Christ and want to be his followers.

Reformed…

Church…

Because we’re part of the historic branch of the Christian church that follows the teachings of the leaders of the Protestant Reformation, who struggled to return Christianity to its biblical roots. Because God has called us to be a fellowship of his people in the world.
