Shoreline Christian Reformed Church

God is calling us to be a church marked by Loving God  Connecting People  Transforming our World

May 7, 2017 Worship Service: 10:00 a.m.

Pastor Brian Turnbull will be in the pulpit this morning, kicking off this new sermon series on Outreach. His sermon, "The Adamic Covenant: It's Your World, Too" will challenge us to reach our community and world for Christ, based on the foundational power of God's Word.

Today Nursery: The Nursery is available downstairs for children (newborn–age 3) during the morning service. Children’s Church (ages 4-8) meets today. Teachers and helpers will be in the lobby area to meet you. Sunday School classes will meet after the morning service today and will dismiss by noon. Special Note: Sunday, May 14, will be the last session this spring . Communion: Today we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper together. We welcome you to the table, whether you are a member or visitor, if you have searched your heart and can make the following statements: •

I recognize that I am a sinner and I am genuinely sorry for all my sins.

I trust in Jesus Christ as my only Savior and Lord, and I earnestly desire to live my life in obedience to Him.

I have made public profession of faith in Jesus Christ, and I am a member in good standing of His church.

Two Offerings: We will collect two offerings this morning. The first offering will be directed toward our Local Operating Budget (LOB), and the second Benevolence offering will go to the local church. Cookie Social: We will enjoy our monthly cookie social after the morning service. Thanks to those of you who brought treats to share.

Pastor Search Team The Pastor Search Team (PST) is diligently and prayerfully working to identify our next pastor. Meeting every two weeks, they have received several nominations and applications and are working through those that have been received thus far. There is much to consider in this process, and the PST asks for your ongoing prayers that God will provide wisdom, clarity and direction. The PST is comprised of the following dedicated people: Co-Chairs: Jeff Boersema / Karen Heys; Kendra Buist, John DeKoekkoek, Mandy Faber, Wolter Korf, Dan Kredit, Jan Vander Linden, Pete Van Dyke, and Sue Visser. If you have a potential candidate in mind or would like to contact the team, please send an email to them at pastorsearch@seattlecrc.org.

Getting Connected We encourage you to get connected with a community group for fellowship and mutual support. It is far too easy to simply come to church on Sunday and then slip out. We want to get to know you better, so join us! If you would like more information about any group, please contact the Church Office.

HOST: Brian & Ivonne Vander Vlies HELP: Eric & Dora van der Giessen Mike & Kelly Vedders Men’s Bible Study The Men’s Bible Study meets most Mondays at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Room. We use a John Stott study guide as we focus on 1st Timothy and Titus. Women's Morning Bible Study Join the Women's Morning Bible Study group on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. We are currently reading through the entire book of Philippians daily, and discussing together what God is teaching us through His Word. Come join us on in Rooms 201-202. Women’s Evening Bible Study The Women's Evening Bible Study meets most Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in Rooms 201-202. We are using the study guide "Embracing God's Grace— Colossians and Philemon." Please join us if you are able.

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25 (NLT)

Shoreline Christian Reformed Church is a gospel and grace-centered

community learning how to follow Jesus. We belong to a broader community called The Christian Reformed Church. What does this mean? We call ourselves… Christian… Because we belong to Jesus Christ and want to be his followers.

Reformed…

Church…

Because we’re part of the historic branch of the Christian church that follows the teachings of the leaders of the Protestant Reformation, who struggled to return Christianity to its biblical roots. Because God has called us to be a fellowship of his people in the world.
