Welcome April 2, 2017 Worship Service: 10:00 a.m. Pastor: Brian Turnbull "O Worship the King—Thirsty for God in a Dry Land"

Next Week Sunday's Message: Eric Likkel will be in the pulpit for Palm Sunday with a sermon entitled, "King of the Jews: Lord, Liar or Lunatic?" from Psalm 63:1-4. Two Offerings: We will collect two offerings next week. The first will be for our Local Operating Budget (LOB), and the second offering will be for Cadets Boys' Club.

Today Nursery: The Nursery is available downstairs for children (newborn–age 3) during the morning service. Children’s Church (ages 4-8) meets today. Teachers and helpers will be in the lobby area to meet you. Sunday School classes will meet after the morning service and will dismiss by noon. All children from K-Grade 12 are invited! Communion: Today we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper together. We welcome you to the table, whether you are a member or visitor, if you have searched your heart and can make the following statements: •

I recognize that I am a sinner and I am genuinely sorry for all my sins.

I trust in Jesus Christ as my only Savior and Lord, and I earnestly desire to live my life in obedience to him.

I have made public profession of faith in Jesus Christ, and I am a member in good standing of His church.

Two Offerings: We will collect two offerings this morning. The first will be for our Local Operating Budget (LOB), and the second Benevolence Offering will support CARE Net/Life Choices. Thank you for being a prayerful and generous church body! Cookie Social: We will enjoy our monthly cookie social after the morning service. Thanks to those of you who brought treats to share. Congregational Vote! We will vote today on our new church identity/name. See page 4 for more information.

Announcements TODAY - Congregational Vote In the past year, your collective desire to reach the community for Christ has been exciting to see, and leadership is moving this process forward. Today, we will vote on the top three church names that have surfaced as the most compelling and descriptive of our church family: 1. Gateway Church A Christian Reformed Community 2. Shoreline Christian Reformed Church 3. Cornerstone Church A Christian Reformed Community In the weeks leading up to today's vote, we've been reflecting on the following questions in our small groups: • How will a new name affect our witness to our community? • What would each of these names mean to our unchurched neighbors and friends? • Which names are short, clear, easy to remember, meaningful, and reverent? Procedure: We will vote twice; the first vote will narrow the three choices down to the top two, and then the second vote will select our new name. Absentee ballots have been accepted. Besides being counted in the first round, an absentee ballot vote for one of the two top names remaining after the first vote will also be counted in the second vote. Next Steps: Once a new church name/ identity is selected, the Council will continue investigating costs and details for a new logo, stationery, website changes, and new signage. Stayed tuned for more information in the coming weeks.

Getting Connected We encourage you to get connected with a community group for fellowship and mutual support. It is far too easy to simply come to church on Sunday and then slip out. We want to get to know you better, so join us! If you would like more information about any group, please contact the Church Office. Cadets (Boys grades 3-6) The goal of Cadeting is to help boys grow spiritually in all areas of life—devotional, mental, physical, and social. The Cadets meet most Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall during the school year. GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior), a club for girls in grades 3-6, meets on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in various rooms at church. Our activities include Bible lessons, praise/worship, badges, crafts and other fun things. MAC (Made Alive in Christ) MAC Junior High students meet together most Wednesdays during the academic year. Come join the fun at 7:00 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room. High School Youth Group The High School Youth Group meets at 6:00 p.m. on the first and third Sundays of each month during the school year. We have a meal together and get caught up on each other's lives before learning about discipleship in Christ. Grow Groups (Adults) Grow Groups meet once a month in various homes every third Sunday from September through May. We are continuing our study of Galatians.

Couples Club (for Couples of All Ages) This groups meets one Saturday evening per month from October through May. Our next meeting will be on Saturday, April 15. HOST: Dan & Chris Kredit HELP: Ed & Denise Einfeld Steve & Carol DeKoekkoek Men’s Bible Study The Men’s Bible Study meets most Mondays at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Room. We use a John Stott study guide as we focus on 1st Timothy and Titus. Women's Morning Bible Study Join the Women's Morning Bible Study group on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. Instead of working through a guidebook, we'll be reading through the book of 1 John. Come join us on in Rooms 201-202. Women’s Evening Bible Study The Women's Evening Bible Study meets most Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in Rooms 201-202. We are using the study guide "Embracing God's Grace— Colossians and Philemon." Please join us if you are able.

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25 (NLT)

First Christian Reformed Church of Seattle is a gospel and grace-centered community learning how to follow Jesus. We belong to a broader community called The Christian Reformed Church. What does this mean? We call ourselves… Christian… Because we belong to Jesus Christ and want to be his followers. Reformed… Because we’re part of the historic branch of the Christian church that follows the teachings of the leaders of the Protestant Reformation, who struggled to return Christianity to its biblical roots. Church… Because God has called us to be a fellowship of his people in the world.
