The 62nd Annual Spring Show & Sale Saanich Peninsula Arts & Crafts Society As the incomparable Fran Willis once wrote, “… original art is very important in our lives, touching a deeper level of awareness … where the direct creative energy of the artist can be felt.” For a rich experience of original art produced by dedicated and talented local artists, visit The 62nd Annual Spring Show & Sale of works produced by members of SPAC - the Saanich Peninsula Arts & Crafts Society. This exhibition will be open April 25 & 26, from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10.00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, at the Mary Winspear Community Centre in Sidney. All art, from greeting cards to large masterpieces, is for sale - with a wide range of price points. In addition to over 500 works by painters, sculptors, jewelers, calligraphers, as well as ceramic, fabric, glass, and metal artists, you will see the stunning work of special guest artist, Rande Cook (www.randecook/about.html). Chief Rande Cook was born in culture-rich Alert Bay and now resides in Victoria. He has worked with many great mentors such as John Livingston and also Calvin Hunt for his mastery in wood sculpting, Robert Davidson in metal work, and most recently he studied with Repousee and Chasing master, Valentin Yotkov. Rande produces works in wood, metal (gold and

silver), as well as paintings, rugs, and other custom artworks. This exhibition will also showcase the arts with fascinating artist demonstrations in various mediums, beautiful floral displays, and a gift shop for smaller original artwork such as greeting cards, pottery, jewellery, and paintings. We encourage you to vote for your favourite piece in the main gallery exhibit. Your ballot will be entered in the draw for unique artist-crafted door prizes. For those art lovers who want a sneak preview of the show, sign up to be a Patron by contacting Donna Jean: djbl@shaw.ca or call her at 250.655.1855. As a Patron, you will be supporting the artists by pledging $125, $100 of which will be applied towards your purchase of art. Then spend the Friday evening before the show opens along with other Patrons and have this early opportunity to purchase your favourite piece. There will also be fine wine and delectable hors d’oeuvres for you to enjoy, as well as the opportunity to meet and talk with the artists. Join us the last weekend in April for this delightful celebration of the Visual Arts!
