The Rainier Beach Food Bank seeks to be a neighborhood hub, a place for connection, socialization, education, resilience, and sustenance. The food bank operates on the model of a more traditional grocery store to give its users a sense of dignity and also utilizes a substantial portion of its footprint for hydroponic growing space. The central goal of this project is to encourage community connectedness: to people, food, nature, place, water, resources, and support.
