Chemistry Cambridge Immerse Summer School Chemistry, in its simplest form, is deemed to be a division of physical science which primarily concerns itself with atoms and how they interact and relate to other atoms. However as our understanding of the natural world improves, coupled with such advances in technology never before considered possible, the contribution of chemistry to the human quality of life worldwide, is almost beyond calculation. The Chemistry Cambridge Summer School held at Cambridge University by Cambridge Immerse, presents a unique opportunity for those students wishing to satisfy their thirst for knowledge in the scientific world and to gain a grasp of the high standard of intellect expected from a potential Chemistry undergraduate. Each class is tutored by highly experienced lecturers, many of whom are present or past tutors from Oxbridge universities. Classes are deliberately kept small in number to enable the tutors to address the specific needs and requirements of each individual student. The Chemistry Cambridge Summer School encourages students to delve into the highly complex yet exciting disciplines of chemistry, such as molecular medicine and biochemistry. Each small group of students will undertake a project which, at the end of the summer School, they will present to the larger class. The carefully planned tutorials, which form an integral part of the principal of University learning, will incite students to develop their natural curiosity as to “why things tick. To put it another way, they prompt students to determine their own interpretation as to why Chemistry is such an important contributor to the existence of life. There are several optional Skills Workshops which will enable students to understand the intense level of study that will be required to enter a University as an undergraduate. It will also help students gain a grounding and experience of those questions that could be asked during the compulsory Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) Cambridge examinations. Many students find the preparation of their Personal Statement, which is required as part of a University Application, to be a challenging and foreboding task. An optional workshop is available at the Chemistry Cambridge Summer School, to help students appreciate the type of information and document presentation that Universities will expect, when examining a Personal Statements submitted by potential undergraduates. The Chemistry Cambridge Summer School held at Cambridge University also allows time for extracurricular activities. These could include a short trip to view the city of Oxford, the arch rival of Cambridge, so far as the annual Boat Race is concerned! The close proximity, interaction and cultural differences between participating students from all round the world, often create bonds of friendship that exist for many years into the future.
