Letter from SEADC Leadership

Dear Friends,

As a leading social services organization dedicated to Southeast Asian communities in San Francisco and the Bay Area, the Southeast Asian Development Center (SEADC) remains on the front lines of serving immigrants and refugees facing the COVID-19 pandemic. SEADC responded swiftly to the challenges facing our communities including food security, housing stability, academic achievement, access to no-cost COVID-19 vaccinations, economic assistance, and advocacy to stop AAPI Hate. It was through your support that we were able to meet the needs of our community, and we cannot thank you enough.

Thanks to you our generous donors, volunteers, and partners, SEADC provides our youth, families, immigrants, and refugee communities with culturally competent services that build independence and strength. This year, in response to the pandemic, we provided critical resources to our youth and families. In November 2020, SEADC offer

in-person afterschool support when San Francisco schools shut down as part of the city-wide efforts to connect students with one another, through the Community Learning Hub. To address food insecurity, SEADC distributed culturally appropriate groceries- everyday staples in Southeast Asian cooking like oil, fish sauce, soy sauce. SEADC reached over 4000 community members and businesses with our mass vaccination outreach program. We’ve addressed the rise of Anti-Asian sentiments and attacks on our community members and elders by holding rallies, protests and meeting with our local and State elected leaders to stop the attack on our community. It was truly a remarkable year for us.

As we look to the future, we are working to address the rise in anti-Asian sentiments and attacks, connect and link more community members who depend on us for language support and critical services. We hope you will join us as we fight to ensure the recovery from COVID-19 does not leave immigrant communities and other vulnerable populations behind.

Building Strong Communities Together

SEADC continues to be the go-to center for Southeast Asian Americans looking to get out of poverty. We deliver a broad range of services for youth, families, and adults: youth development, access to health education, and tools to achieve economic independence and success. We empower clients to pursue higher education, be prepared for work, improve personal health outcomes, and promote self efficacy.

Our mission is to foster a healthy, thriving and self sufficient Southeast Asian American community in San Francisco and beyond. SEADC aims to eliminate the social, economic and education equality gap affecting the Southeast Asian American community. By addressing these issues, we hope to make our neighborhoods vibrant, safe places to live and build strong communities so that our future generations can thrive.
