As we begin the summer season, there are many things that are being done on our beautiful golf courses to make them as enjoyable as possible The most notable upcoming maintenance is the aeration of the Seabrook Island Club courses Be sure to mark the following dates in your calendar to plan accordingly

Ocean Winds

Ocean Winds Course will be closed for aeration from June 5 -16 The greens will be aerated with a contracted drill and fill service, which will come in on the 5th and be finished in two days There's a 10” core depth, and the greens will be aerated with a large tine aerator This is one of the most important maintenance practices for course health and is filled completely with dry sand The greens will be mowed with vertical mowers to remove thatch and old plant material Fairways, Tees, Roughs, and approaches will also be on the turf throughout the coming year. It will take several weeks for the greens to recover completely from the aggressive aeration and topdress.

In addition, oak trees and palm trees will be pruned around tees and greens to increase sunlight and remove overhanging obstructions for tee shots.

The staff also began applying chemicals to the rye overseed in May to start the transition to the underlying Bermuda grass. There will be shaded portions of the Rough and Tee areas that may
