Contgratulations! Wedding planning is exciting and it has been known to consume the couple. Although trying at times, we hope that you will relax and enjoy the process as a team, learn to work through differences and always keep in mind, your love is most important! Today’s weddings and receptions have become more and more, a reflection of you as a couple with many ways to personalize your day. Try to stay clear of exactly copying things you see online or in magazines, but use them as inspirations to share with your wedding experts so they too can visualize your needs. We truly hope you will keep at the forefront the love you have for one another throughout the planning. After 30+ years we are still excited to share inspiring ideas, tips and the hottest trends for your dream wedding. With many more ways to gather ideas, we love that couples still are flocking to and LOVE our Beautiful Publication and are now using our DIGITAL MAGAZINE with direct links to all of our top pros at large numbers. We couldn’t be more thrilled that so many couples recycle the magazine and hand them on to their friends who recently got engaged. Still one of the first stops when you have accepted the proposal is picking up a current copy of San Diego Style Weddings. Please take a minute and follow our BLOG and Social Media @SanDiegoStyleWeddingsmagazine IG: @sdstyleweddings #sdstyleweddings Pinterest: sdswcreative Twitter: @sdstyleweddings We know everyone deserves their 15 minutes of fame so, we encourage you to SUBMIT YOUR REAL WEDDING too! Every wedding will get featured online, on our blog and our favorites wil be featured in the magazine. The real wedding form can be found on our website. Just complete the form in its entirety and submit along with 30 of the best images that show highlights of your day! Hint finding your pros through SDSW increases your odds! We LOVE our participating partners, and think they are the BEST of the BEST of San Diego wedding professionals. We are picky and selective but for a good reason, after all, we wouldn’t work with them if we didn’t feel comfortable booking their services for my own daughter’s wedding someday. We wish you love and happiness and the happily ever after you deserve.

Multiple Loves Multiple Choices to Love

Written by: Publisher, Dena Malasek & Nicole Little

Finding the right wedding venue does take time, research and some good note taking on your site visits. We have come across several companies that take weddings very seriously, realizing couples want options and not every couple have the same wants and desires for their special day. These companies offer Multiple Choices to Love, when it comes to wedding venues, all having a little different offering and vibe. We wanted to highlight these great companies offering couples with many ways to fall in love over with their venue selection. We also asked their onsite coordinators what made their venues so special unique about their venues, it was refreshing to see that they all love to build relationships with their couples through the wedding planning process.

Trademark Venues Trademarkvenues.com

Likely one of the most popular venues among Southern California couples with 3 breathtaking venues. Rarely do they have an open weekend, so our advice is to lock in your dates early, as they book out up to two years in advance. All of Trademark venues offer warm and inviting ambiance, wonderful privacy as you have the venue space for the entire day, amazing get ready salons and rooms on the properties with a relaxed atmosphere for both brides and grooms to kick back before their big day. Another very unique element is the Trademark Venue teams first class styling and planning experts as part of your wedding package. Although a knowledgeable professional planner is included, some couples still opt for an additional hired wedding coordinator outside of Trademark that can arrange other outside tasks and details, which they welcome. Their packages include a preferred list of top vetted vendors, that they work with on a weekly basis, to select from for important elements like your entertainment. Need we mention their onsite chefs are incredible, helping make each couple feel very special and so... “You are able to customize your day… your way!” We love that they do allow your own choice of florist and photographers as they are not included in their packages. These elements do still allow that each wedding is unique in it’s own way, but we encourage you to request their recommendations on their favorite wedding pros . Keep an eye out for another great Trademark Venues coming in early 2020. Here are the spectacular venues open now for 2020 and beyond weddings, call for your tours.

Sarah & Benjamin ESTANCIA LA JOLLA HOTEL & SPA

This wedding was a blend of Sarah’s Persian culture and Benjamin’s Jewish background. They were able to find a great rabbi, who not only performed the Jewish ceremony, but incorporated aspects of the Persian wedding ceremony. It's a true testament to the diversity of Southern California and the fact that two cultures can coexist and complement one another. The blending continued at the reception where they danced until the early hours to American hits, Persian pop, in addition to Jewish music such as the hora.

the dapper

CALL ME OLD FASHION, BUT I LOVE NOTHING more than to see a man in a nicely tailored suit. We sat down with John Park, CEO and Founder of Zeglio Custom Clothiers, and talked about my love for a dapper gentleman. I feel as does he, a nicely dressed man exudes confidence, strength and power when wearing a suit. Take a look for yourself, his posture is a little taller and his smirk a bit larger when your guy dresses up, especially when wearing a fine suit. You don’t necessarily need a dozen but a few of top quality suits would be a wise investment and always a great gift idea. I know many businesses have gone to a more casual look, but be your own person, give yourself a daily boost of confidence and style with a more professional look. Not all suits are created equally- Zeglio is known for their classy and top of the line designs, fabrics and tailoring.

The four most important elements of a custom suit. The Fit Brand doesn’t matter whatsoever if the garment doesn’t fit you perfectly The Proportions Part of the aesthetics and science of design, is giving your face and body a balanced look.( i.e. lapel width, 1st button location, length etc.) Quality of Construction This speaks for itself and what makes it custom and unique. The Design This element should make a statement about you, and make you feel confident wearing it. Look at personalizing the lining and selecting fabrics that talk to you. How to Purchase A Custom Suit n Call and Book an Appointment n Decide on the different design elements, fabrics, type, details desired. n 1 st Fitting where you are measured, assess your posture and proportions, and try on several styles to see what looks best on your frame. Listen to the experts! n B aste Fitting, where the suit is unfinished and adjusted on your body. n F inal Fitting where final adjustments are made to assure the perfect fit. Consider getting a custom suit for your wedding, not only will you be walking down the aisle in style, it will have a very special place in your heart each time you get to wear it. Expect to pay for a custom suit $1500$5000, but in my book, worth every penny. I would love to see more handsome men wearing their confidence in a suit on a daily basis.

MENSWEAR

formalwear 101 CHOOSING A TUX MIGHT JUST BE THE EASIEST weddingrelated decision you’ll make. After all, it’s hard to go wrong with a suit that has changed so modestly in the past 120 years. In fact, if you compare today’s tuxedo with the one your father wore at his wedding, you’ll likely see only slight variations (provided dad didn’t wear a ruffled shirt). The single-breasted notch lapel tuxedo, is a classic look that never goes out of style. Searching for your own take on the traditional tux? From ties and vests to buttons and shoes, here’s the straight talk on your options, along with styles that best suit your groom’s silhouette.

Tie one on When it comes to ties there’s standard, and then there’s spectacular. While the classic bow tie will always be a perennial favorite, there are other options for grooms who choose to venture outside the norm. One of the most popular styles, the four-in-hand, is similar to

a standard business tie. Paired with a matching full-backed vest in a subtle pattern, a four-in-hand is the top choice.

Jacket required The key to a flattering tuxedo often lies in the jacket. The right one can whittle the waist, lengthen the torso, or add the appearance of broader shoulders. The most common jacket is single breasted with a shawl lapel. This look is perfect for both short and tall men with more of a stocky or husky appearance. The same jacket with a notched lapel would flatter a short, thin groom because the notch in the lapel gives the appearance of broader shoulders. A double-breasted jacket is great for thinner men because the eyes are drawn to the two rows of buttons at the midsection and gives the illusion of girth. With a double-breasted jacket, the shoulders can also be padded a bit to give the wearer the appearance of broader shoulders while still retaining the look of his trim waistline.

OF MODERN SUITS & TUXEDOS Shop the largest selection of styles & track your wedding party, all 100% online.

The color of your groom’s tuxedo is up to the two of you. Take into account the formality of your celebration, along with the time of day. If you’re planning an afternoon ceremony, a gray tuxedo with a stroller jacket is the standard look. A more casual celebration closer to evening might call for a white dinner jacket with black trousers and tie. A formal evening affair warrants the classic black tuxedo. Keep in mind, however, that traditions are just that and the two of you should choose the style and color that you want, no matter the time of day or the formality of the occasion.

Finish the look Finally, complete the formal look with matching socks and shoes. The guys’ socks should either be the same color as their shoes, or show some personality and match the colors in your wedding, which make for some great photo ops. Nowadays men are choosing less formal shoes and also showing personality with matching “Chucks” or “Toms.” But if needed, formal shoes can be rented from your formalwear company. Styles vary from slip-on versions with a parade shine to mock wingtips in classic black. stitchandtie.com

Q. How long have you worked with couples? Or shot weddings? I’ve been photographing weddings for more than 10 years. Photographed nearly 400 weddings.

Q. How long is considered “ normal” in turning around photo proofs for clients? I deliver online galleries and printed wedding albums within four weeks of the wedding day.

Q. How would you describe your style? My style is vibrant, beautiful, timeless, and meaningful – my work is a mix of directed portraiture and unscripted moments and I seek to document the connections, intimacy and emotions of your celebration.

Q. Can couples buy all of the images on an electronic download and print themselves? Why or why not? My clients have access & personal ownership to the high resolution images from their wedding day. They can print the files for themselves or order prints and products from me.

Q. What do you like most about wedding photography? I love the connections that come together for this once in a lifetime event. It’s a rare moment in history to have both of your worlds come together and be in one space. I love all the moments that led to the moment you say “I do,” and learning the stories that led to this moment and to each person being there for you both.

Q. Do you like to give your clients a sneak peek? How quickly is this usually given to the couple? I work quickly in delivering all of the images and their wedding album, so I just post a few sneak peeks after the wedding on instagram & facebook. I am consistent in what I create & what I deliver to my clients. I am caring and I am a source of peace on a wedding day. And I consider what I do to be an honor and a joy and my hope is to

HONEY PHOTOGRAPHS www.honeyphotographs.com Q. Who is part of your photography team? We’ve got a team of three bad ass ladies with cameras: Alyss (myself), Blair, and Cate. Q. I would describe myself with these 5 words? Warm, passionate, accepting, intentional, candid. Q. How long have you worked with couples? Or shot weddings? My first wedding on my own was in 2013! I was scared shitless that entire year, but thankfully didn’t give up on the dream of doing this for a living. And here we are today! Q. How would you describe your style? Our style is vibrant, eccentric, and sassy. We’re down for capturing the spontaneous, unique, and REAL moments in the day. Q. What do you like most about wedding photography? It’s not often that all of your favorite people from all corners of your life are all together in one room, but weddings do that. They bring people together and we get to be there to capture the reunions, the tears, the hugs, and the hardcore celebrations. That’s why we choose to capture weddings. Because we’re about the bringing together of people and showing you what your big love together looks like. Q. How many weddings do you shoot to book each year? We cap at 20 weddings for the year. Q. Why should a couple choose your company over the many other wedding photographers out there? We want to know you. Like, really KNOW you. We want to be legit friends. on your wedding day, capturing all those stolen kisses, sneaky smiles, and epic dance moves. And like a true friend, we’ll be right there doing all those things with you… and probably leading the crowd in the Cupid Shuffle. We don’t want to be just a vendor. Instead, just call us your badass friends with cameras and a killer timeline. Q. Do you like to give your clients a sneak peek? How quickly is this usually given to the couple? Hell yeah we do! You get NEXT FREAKIN’ DAY sneaks. And not just one or two. Nearly 50 from throughout the entire day. I want you to relive bits of your day right away. Q. Do you think engagement shoots are important? They’re clutch. Some peeps get funky feelings about a camera in their face all day long, and engagement sessions are a great way to get warmed up to the paparazzi-related fears. Best part? Literally everyone has walked away saying that it was actually a lot more fun than they’d realized! Q. Do you offer video or any additional service as options with your packages? We just added video to our services! Rolling out for 2020 is Honey Video. Keep your eyeballs peeled. Our dude is legit. Q. What is the starting point of your wedding photo packages? JAMIELYN CRAFT PHOTOGRAPHY www.jamielyncraftphotography.com Q. Who is part of your photography team? Jamielyn Craft, as well as, a few additional second photographers that I work closely with. Q. I would describe myself with these 5 words? Professional, creative, passionate, friendly, artistic. Q. How long have you worked with couples? Or shot weddings? I have been shooting weddings since 2006 and started Jamielyn Craft Photographer back in 2008. Q. How would you describe your style? Light and airy photography, blending both photojournalism with a modern style and artistic imagery. Q. What do you like most about wedding photography? Being able to tell every couple’s love story through artistic imagery for them to be able to relive the moment for years to come.

to share, I will give my clients a sneak peak. This will usually happen within a couple of weeks from their wedding day. Q. Do you think engagement shoots are important? Definitely. Engagement sessions are a great way to practice being comfortable in front of the camera, so that whether you are posing or trying to be candid, you look natural. A lot of my clients love it because by the time we shoot their portraits on the day of their wedding, they already know most of the poses I am going to do. Also, it’s a great way for my couples and I to get to know each other before their big day. Q. Do you offer video or any additional service as options with your packages? Having a videographer and photographer that work together as a team is important in being able to capture all the special moments of a couple’s wedding day without being in each other’s way. For that reason, I have an amazing videographer that I have teamed up with and list in my investment guide with her packages.

Q. How many weddings do you shoot to book each year? I only shoot about 20 weddings a year so that I can provide the best, individualized service to my clients.

Q. What is the starting point of your wedding photo packages? My starting point for my most basic package is $1900 (plus tax).

Q. Why should a couple choose your company over the many other wedding photographers out there? Getting to know my clients is very important to me. I want to make sure we are a perfect fit for one another. I shoot my weddings based on my couple’s needs and personalities. I also believe in natural light, a simple setting, and being able to capture the real emotions as they unfold on their wedding day, while keeping it as stress-free as possible.

Q. List something very few would know about you when they meet you, that they may find of interest? I have an identical twin sister, married my high school sweetheart, whom I have been married to for over 11 years but together with for going on 21 years. We have two beautiful girls. I love to travel and vacation, which most of the time I plan my vacations based on activities for my kids and the food for me, because I LOVE GOOD FOOD.

Q. Do you like to give your clients a sneak peek? How quickly is this usually given to the couple? Only once in a while, if my clients request it or I’m just too excited

I can’t live without: I can’t live without my family.

Q. Who is part of your photography team? At the moment I work alone Q. I would describe myself with these 5 words? honest, considerate, hard-working, goofy and unique. Q. How long have you worked with couples? Or shot weddings? I have been working with couples and shooting weddings for about 1 and a half years. It has been a fast and fun ride! Q. How would you describe your style? I would describe my style as sincere, intimate, and fun. I try to bring out multiple sides of you so that your images describe the real YOU. Q. What do you like most about wedding photography? I love the rawness of weddings the most. The whole day is you being yourself and me being a stalker with a camera capturing that. Q. How many weddings do you shoot to book each year? I strive for 35 weddings a year. Q. Why should a couple choose your company over the many other wedding photographers out there? I feel a couple should choose the photographer that speaks to them. I am very honest and upfront about how I run my whole business. I love what I do and put all my couples before myself. I strive to give them the best day. I am a very passionate person and it shows. I get very attached to my couples, sometimes staying up talking about random things, learning their quirks and saying involved. I don’t want a “hey my sessions are X dollars, please pay up and let’s never talk again” relationship. I want to be a friend that constantly talk and

never makes you feel like you were just another check in my pocket. It is important to me to take clients who also want this relationship. Trust is the foundation of my business Q. Do you like to give your clients a sneak peek? How quickly is this usually given to the couple? Of course, I love sneak peaks! I have a serious hate for iPhone wedding pics haha. I send 50-80 edited images within 24 hours of your wedding day that way you have gorgeous images to post announcing your big milestone. Q. Do you think engagement shoots are important? 100%, they are so important to me, so I include them in every wedding package. We need to get you comfortable around the camera and what better way than engagement photos. Q. What is the starting point of your wedding photo packages? $2800 Q. List something very few would know about you when they meet you, that they may find of interest? I am a full-time student studying sociology and business. I find this helps tremendously with my business because I am able to better understand and communicate with my couples. I have been married for over 5 years now to my husband, Josh. We met in high school and got married shortly after graduating. I am addicted to anything potatoes! Literally! I can’t live without: I can’t live without my family.

TRUE PHOTOGRAPHY www.truephotography.com Q. Who is part of your photography team? We represent San Diego’s top elite wedding photographers, designers and enhancers to ensure you have a specialized team. Q. I would describe myself with these 5 words? Hard-working, Detailed, Genuine, Caring, Determined Q. How long have you worked with couples? Or shot weddings? We have been in business for 19 years. Q. How would you describe your style? Colorful, Candid, Stylized, Timeless, True

Q. Do you still offer Albums? Small or other types of books? We do offer albums. This is something we suggest to consider adding once you see all of your images. It is a lot more fun to choose a book when you know how many pictures you love. Q. Do you like to give your clients a sneak peek? How quickly is this usually given to the couple? We can provide a sneak peek within a couple of days if requested.

Q. What do you like most about wedding photography? There are very few investments that people have in their lives forever and then it passes through future generations. As wedding photographers we get to be part of that and it is very full-filling.

Q. Do you think engagement shoots are important? As professionals it is our job to get people comfortable being photographed within seconds. It shouldn’t take an hour to get warmed up. So we ourselves don’t need to do an engagement shoot in order to be successful for our clients on their wedding day. However it may provide more peace of mind for the clients and is a nice ice breaker to get to know each other more.

Q. How many weddings do you shoot to book each year? Each photographer averages 30-35 weddings a year.

Q. What is the starting point of your wedding photo packages? $2,500

Q. Why should a couple choose your company over the many other wedding photographers out there? We are very streamlined. You aren’t just hiring a photographer for their talents, but are also hiring a business. If the business is run well, the only surprises you will receive are good ones. We don’t follow trends that look good for a year or two. We stay true to what we feel confident will look good now and 50 years from now.

Q. List something very few would know about you when they meet you, that they may find of interest? I grew 8 inches in 8 months in high school, wound up being 6’6". I have driven to every state (had to fly to Hawaii), I went to every MLB baseball game in the country in 46 days. I eat 3 tomatoes and one avocado everyday.

Q. How long is considered “ normal” in turning around photo proofs for clients? Within the month. We can provide you with sneak peeks sooner.
