YEAR: 2020 5th Semester Project
LOCATION: Cra 50-47 Between 56th and 57th St. “Barrio el Prado”
SOFTWARE: Revit, Sketchup, Photoshop
“Lluvia de Oro” cultural center is a Project located in one of the most iconic neighborhoods of my city Barranquilla. Its is a neighborhood with a lot of tradition and Houses that tell the story of our city’s origins. Its name comes from one of our local trees, the “Lluvia de Oro” tree (Golden Rain. The space it’s located is a boulevard that currently holds no real purpose, looks weathered and old, and it really isn’t presenting any use for the community, thus this project proposes a new communal space where art, music and dance can be taught to the people to maintain our traditions. Some of the included spaces are a theater, art gallery, library, dance studios and an open terrace with a cafeteria. Barranquilla is a city that although it has a deep rich tradition, as seen in our most popular festival “El Carnaval de Barranquilla”, is severely lacking in cultural spaces for the community that are accessible.

Apart from the cultural center, the project also includes an intervention to the boulevard, improving the green area to concrete ratio to achieve a better temperature in the area and give a better look. Throughout the boulevard there are hyperbolic paraboloids that serve as covered areas of interaction and protect monuments and statues that would be placed.

YEAR: 2020 6th Semester Project
LOCATION: “Barrio La Luz”
SOFTWARE: Revit, Sketchup, Photoshop, Twinmotion COLLABORATORS: Linda Solano, Andrea Morales
This project represents an opportunity to recover the public space in one of the most disenfranchised neighborhoods in Barranquilla. It proposes to recover a residual water pumping station to make it usable to the community, taking inspiration from the “UVAS” in Medellin. A Metallic structure with the shape of an infinite sign separates what would be the private area and the public park surrounding it. “Barrio La Luz” Is one of the poorer areas of the city and takes its name from the fires that people made in the ditch when burning trash. This project plans to pay homage to that name by providing a public space usable both during day and night, using various lighting fixtures directly integrated into the design giving not only a new park that the community needs but also strengthening their identity.

YEAR: 2019 3rd Semester Project
LOCATION: Cra 45# 48 Corner Lot
SOFTWARE: Revit, Photoshop, Twinmotion
“Oasis” is a building that seeks to create spaces for the daily life of its inhabitants. The building is designed with social interaction in mind to function as a community. It’s located next to the plaza called “Plaza de la Paz”, one of the most iconic places in the city of Barranquilla and is neighbor to two representatives of Art deco in the city, “Edificio Garcia” and “Edificio Hané” both designed by the architect Manuel Carrerá. Taking into account all this, the Building takes advantage of the view with its multiple balconies, terraces and open hallways, protected from the sun and wind with a wood louver cover while still allowing natural ventilation.

STUDY CLEANING
COMBINATIONS

In order to design the apartments and distribute the floor plans, the methodology of modular design was used, comprehending the living space as the sum of smaller areas on which the activities one would do on their daily life take place, namely sleeping, dining, cooking, resting, etc. Initially small modules with minimal measurements and characteristics were designed, then these modules where combined in various configurations, adjusting the dimensions as needed to be able to compose the different types of living spaces in the building.

YEAR: 2020
SOFTWARE: Photoshop, Twinmotion
Conceptualization and Visual communication exercise. Taking the previous project as a base, the images were repurposed to communicate a new concept and tell a story through them. For this exercise the chosen concept was virtual reality, using photoshop and the Cyberpunk aesthetic, the project was transformed into a digital scene, and the schematics of the building were transformed into holographic images to further create the illusion of this digital world. Also stock images were taken in order to create new characters that would inhabit this images, represented as glitches that make them standout form the background while maintaining the same concept.

In order to create the characters, stock images of people using “Tech wear” clothes were used, further editing them to create the glitches in order to indicate that the landscape seen in the images is not reality.

YEAR: 2020
SOFTWARE: Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign COLLABORATORS: Luis Andrés Lázaro, María Carolina Lima, Arch. Carlos Bueno Rivero
During the year 2020 Universidad del Norte housed a collaborative space with Universidad de Palermo in Buenos Aires Argentina. The purpose of this exchange was to allow students to design with a different urban and cultural context in mind, while also considering the challenges that quarantine posed during the COVID-19 pandemic and how this would transform our habitats and homes. As part of the creative team promoting the event we were tasked with creating visual media that would show the exchange between two very different cities, showcasing differences and similarities. Pieces like the collage below are composed by Architectural spaces that are representative of each city. As well as waves that represent tectonic vibrations and adding digital touches to represent the challenge that the quarantine itself posed during the event.
