Involved Samford Live Brings Local Music Full Circle
Saturday 25 March will see Samford Live kick off a community based, locally produced, music series. A committed team has galvanised local support over months of planning for this artist driven venture. Interestingly, it is not the first such series.

In 1999 Samford Performers Café commenced at the Mt Glorious Rd Church Hall. Local musician Dale Jones picks up the story:
“The Performers Café was created in 1999 by the Samford Songwriters, a local group formed to give a forum and support for local songwriters. We would meet in the Old Catholic Church Hall every week and the Performers Cafe was held on the first Friday of every month.”
This Café provided a platform for all manner of local artist and choirs, including Mt Nebo’s Peace ‘n’ Choir led by Ann Birmingham, still going strong today.
Many challenges were encountered along the way including exorbitant public liability insurance costs which threatened to end the series. A yearly Farmers Hall Gala Café raised money for this expense. The series continued for almost a decade.

New Traditions Begin
Today we come full circle and Dale Jones and Wayne Hinton, who both performed at the Performers Café, will return to open Samford Live with their folk harmony group

Feed Lucy. Dale concludes: “the Performers Café was the last community based live music series in Samford, so it’s great to see Samford Live, with the monthly format, getting off the ground, and it’s particularly gratifying to be part of the inaugural event.”

Dayboro Community Singers
Come and join the Dayboro Community Singers. We meet every Tuesday 1.30pm3.30pm under the direction of local singer, guitarist, choir mistress Wendy Murray. You can expect fun and vocal tips, harmonies and laughs with a friendly group of people who love singing together just for the joy of it. We sing a wonderful variety of songs from folk, jazz, pop and multicultural repertoire and we do sometimes perform if that is something you’d like to do.

Wendy believes if you can talk, you can sing! If you can walk you can dance! Wendy looks forward to welcoming everyone. No auditions are necessary, just a love of good music and making new friends.
