Cheesy Baked Meatballs
INGREDIENTS
MEATBALLS
2 x packets of Yajambee mince (1kg)
1 large onion finely chopped
3 garlic cloves crushed
3 slices white bread crusts removed, soaked in ½ cup milk handful fresh parsley finely chopped
1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
1 teaspoon freshly cracked pepper
2-3 teaspoons salt to taste
TOMATO SAUCE
1 onion finely chopped
4 garlic cloves crushed
800g chopped tomatoes (or 2 tins of crushed tomatoes)
2 teaspoons tomato paste
1 cup beef stock
5 fresh thyme sprigs
1 sprig fresh rosemary
2 teaspoons sugar salt & pepper to taste
TO FINISH
1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese fresh basil leaves griddled ciabatta
METHOD
Pre heat the oven to 200°C.
To make the meatballs, fry the onion and garlic in a splash of olive oil until soft and fragrant. Allow to cool. Place the beef and onion mixture in a large bowl. Squeeze the soaked bread slices to get rid of any excess milk and add to the meat. Add the herbs salt and pepper then mix well.
Heat a large, oven-proof pan. Form golfball sized meatballs and brown all over. Remove and set aside.
To make the tomato sauce: add a splash of oil to the pan you used for the meatballs then fry the onion and garlic until soft and fragrant. Add the chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, beef stock, herbs, sugar and seasoning and allow to simmer, uncovered, for approximately 10 minutes or until the sauce has reduced by a quarter.
Place the meatballs back into the sauce then place the pan into the oven. Bake for
10 minutes then remove from the oven and top with the cheeses. Place the pan back in the oven until the cheese melts. Remove from the oven and top with fresh basil. Serve with grilled slices of ciabatta.

CROOKHAVEN: SCHOOL FOR THIEVES J.J. Arcanjo

This is a book about the place where people are taught to con the bad and give back to the innocent. This is the story of a young boy by the name of Gabriel Avery, being invited in an unusual way, to attend Crookhaven: school for thieves, swindlers and wrongdoers. He is accompanied by young Penelope, a girl skilled in crookery, creativity and deception, who, at first, holds a quite hostile relationship with Gabriel. The story falls under the genres of mystery, adventure and friendships. I would recommend this book, as it is captivating, relatable, and an overall page-turner. This novel is great for readers of the Magic Misfits series. would recommend this book for ages 9-14 or for relatively strong readers.

Spice Road
Maiya Ibrahim
This is a thrilling and nail-biting adventure that follows a girl searching for her lost brother through the Arabian inspired land. The author has a unique sense of description and storytelling which lifts this book from others. Every chapter had a page-turning twist but none as unpredictable as the last. Spice Road is a must read for any book lover, which is why I’m giving it a 5/5 stars.

THE BOOKSELLER’S APPRENTICE Amelia Mellor
(prequel to The Grandest Bookshop in the World)
The author of this book, Amelia Mellor, did a great job in writing this story. I would recommend it for ages 11 years and up and advanced readers. In general, this book is about a young boy who gets a job working for an eccentric man called Mr Cole.
This is a good book for those that like exciting reads. The story flowed well, was quite easy to follow, and made me want to keep reading through the whole book. The story had a happy ending and as soon as I finished reading, I wanted to start reading a second. I liked the characters, as each one was different and displayed different emotions. In this book, the characters are very well described, making the story easy to picture. The books falls under the genres of adventure with a little mystery and magic. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book.

Managing Endometriosis
March is recognised as Endometriosis Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about a chronic and debilitating disease that affects an estimated 1 in 10 women worldwide. Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus, grows outside of it, causing pain, infertility and other health issues.
One effective approach to managing endometriosis-related pain and discomfort is pelvic floor and women’s health physiotherapy. Pelvic floor physiotherapy is a specialised form of physical therapy that focuses on the pelvic floor muscles and their surrounding structures. Women’s health
OUT & ABOUT
physiotherapists can work with patients to develop a personalised treatment plan to help manage their pain and improve function.
For women with endometriosis, pelvic floor physiotherapy can be particularly beneficial in reducing pain during intercourse, pelvic pain and improving bladder and bowel function. It can also be used as part of a holistic approach to manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
This Endometriosis Awareness Month, it’s important to remember that there are effective treatments available for those living with this condition. Pelvic floor and women’s health physiotherapy can be a valuable part of that treatment plan. If you are struggling with endometriosis-related pain or discomfort, talk to your healthcare provider about whether pelvic floor physiotherapy might be right for you. Here at The Movement Team, I am the Women’s Health Physiotherapy and would love to help you on your journey.

Youth Crime
In the first parliamentary sitting week of 2023, the Palaszczuk Government introduced key Youth Justice Reforms.
The reforms include:
• Increasing the maximum penalty for stealing a car from 7 years to 10 years’ imprisonment.
• A more severe penalty of 14 years if the offence is committed at night, where the offender uses violence or threatens violence, is armed or pretends to be armed, is in company, or damages or threatens to damage any property.
• Amend the Youth Justice Act requiring courts to take into account previous bail history, criminal activity and track record when sentencing.
• Increased penalties for criminals who have boasted about these crimes on social media.
• Extreme High Visibility Police Patrols.
• A $9.89 million fast-track sentencing program in Brisbane, Townsville, Southport and Cairns so children spend less time on remand and more time serving their sentences.
• The construction of two new youth detention centres.
• A trial of engine immobilisers in Mt Isa, Cairns and Townsville.
• The appointment within QPS of Assistant Commissioner to the position of Youth Crime Taskforce Commander.
• The increased penalties apply to adult as well as juvenile offenders.
Young offenders will be in custody for longer to make sure they can complete requisite rehabilitation and reform programs set out by the courts. It will be harder for serious repeat offenders to get bail and there will be even more investment in tackling the complex causes of youth crime. The tough new laws and increased investment follows careful consideration and are based in evidence and follow feedback from the community, police and other stakeholders.
Please reach out to my office if you have any questions or enquires - 3448 3100 or pine.rivers@parliament.qld.gov.au.
