Samford Shines At 2023 Clean Up Australia Day Event

On the sunny morning of Sunday 5th March, a large group of eager participants gathered for the Samford Clean Up Australia Day Walk. Nationally, this is the largest community environmental event and this year, Samford Landcare organised an easy 4.5km loop from Samford Village and back, collecting rubbish along the route.

Although most would agree that Samford is mostly litter free, surprisingly many bags full of discarded rubbish were collected, with the most unusual item being a pair of (clean) underpants.

We all want a clean and safe environment, now and in the future. So, if you see litter about, get it into a bin and give yourself a pat on the back.

Along the way, walkers took rest at various points where information talks on special Samford environmental activities were provided by Mel and Robyn from Life for Wildlife, Peter Storer at the Samford EcoCorridor, and Greg Prior at Millen Farm.

Upon return to the start point at John Scott park, walkers were treated to refreshments kindly provided by the Lions Club of Samford. There was plenty of interest also at the information marquees staffed by Life for Wildlife and Samford Landcare.
