Countdown to the 2023 Samford Show (and watching the skies)
Planning for the 2023 Samford Show is now in the final stages, getting ready for 15 and 16th July!
Members of the Show Society Committee confess to developing new morning rituals to go with their coffee. They start by looking up the long-range weather forecast for the July weekend. Then they go outside and scan the sky for any meaningful signs of impending cyclones. So far, the forecasts and the signs are all good – the weekend of the Show looks like shaping up as a perfect Samford winters day.
President of the Show Society Terry Hogan reminds patrons that the days will be warm but as the sun goes down over the Showgrounds before the fireworks on
Saturday evening, the temperature drops and winter woollies will be needed. After the fireworks, the famous Baker Boys Band will get the crowd warmed up again in the Forecourt and the Rotary Bar will provide various substances to keep limbs moving.
This year the Show Society has paid particular attention to providing a range of high quality food outlets in the Food Court area. Experience in recent years shows that patrons want a full day out with the family, including good food.
For the first time, the Showgrounds are connected to the district water supply to allow patrons to refill their own water containers at taps in in the Food Court.
Plastic containers are not allowed to be sold at the Showgrounds.
Show Society Treasurer Ingrid Hutton reminds patrons to get in early and buy their tickets online. These online tickets for adults, children, families, concessions and with children under 5 free, have not increased from last show, in recognition that some families might be doing it tough.
