Samford’s District Bowls Club Golden Valley Mixed 4 Medley was held on Sunday June 18th. This event is open to all bowls clubs and was a successful day. The greens were full of hopeful bowlers trying their best to take home the winning prizemoney. The overall winners of the day were Pam and Chris Campbell, Jo Ehrlich and David Taylor. The team that came second was Alan Clarke, Desley Broad, Ray Davis and Andrea Rhind. The morning winners were the team from Bramble Bay with another Samford team of Barry Maher, Lesley Maher, Neil Mason and Janice Ridley being the afternoon winners. On June 22nd, 4 teams of three players from Samford, travelled to Kilcoy to play in the third round of the Mac Patterson Shield, competing with teams from Dayboro, Woodford and Kilcoy. Samford was the better team on the day with 124 points, Kilcoy 101, Woodford 91 then Dayboro with 68. The glorious winter weather and the country hospitality made a good day of bowling perfect. The final game of the Mac Patterson Shield will be played at Samford in September.

21 August: Fashion Parade. Held on a Monday morning, the fashion will be presented by U and I Fashions. Tickets will go on sale towards the end of July. $20pp includes a superior morning tea, fashion parade, raffles and lucky door prizes. Tables of up to 8 will be available so get your friends together so you’re ready to purchase quickly.

Our “Come and Try” evening has been set for Friday 8th September from 5.30pm. Free lessons, sausage sizzle, bar open. Bring some mates, partners, friends, or come on your own. There will be club members to show you what it is all about. Great for those workers who would like to have a try. Pennant season has now started, with the ladies playing in division one on Saturdays and Division 4 playing mid-week. The men are in Division 2 and Division 5 playing on Saturdays. We have a number of new members playing in Division 5 who will gain some great experience. This is the competition where bowlers get to mix it with the best in the district.
