New Funds Established in 2017 JANUARY 1 – DECEMBER 31

In 2017, donors and organizations established 58 new funds at the South Dakota Community Foundation to benefit charitable causes across the state. To browse all 850 funds held by the SDCF, visit SDCommunityFoundation.org/Funds and use our Find a Fund tool. 4-H Club Foundation of Tripp County Fund To provide financial support to current and past students of the Tripp County area pursuing post-secondary education at a South Dakota institute with preference given to participants in Tripp County 4-H.

Colette Abbott Memorial Fund To provide financial support to charitable and nonprofit purposes in the Vermillion area at the recommendation of a local Board of Directors.

Tommy L. & Sheila R. Baruth Fund To provide financial support to charitable and nonprofit purposes at the recommendation of the donor.

Scott Bauer Foundation To provide financial support to charitable and nonprofit purposes at the recommendation of the donor.

Jim & Beth Benning Charitable Fund To provide financial support to charitable and nonprofit purposes at the recommendation of the donor.

Black Hills Works Foundation Designated Fund To provide financial support to Black Hills Works as designated by the donor.

Centerville Riverview Cemetery Fund To provide financial support to Riverview Cemetery in Centerville, SD as designated by the donor.

Marvin & Betty Cihak Family Scholarship Fund To provide financial support to graduates of Philip High School.

Cottonwood Roping Club Scholarship Fund To provide financial support to graduates of Haakon County School District, Jackson County or eastern Pennington County.

Governor Dennis Daugaard Charitable Fund To provide financial support to charitable and nonprofit purposes at the recommendation of the donor.

Doland Alumni Scholarships Fund To provide financial support to graduates of Doland High School.

Robert & Emily Entwisle Designated Fund To provide financial support to organizations in Huron area as designated by the donor.

The Chopper Johnson Foundation was established in May 2017 to honor the late Steve “Chopper” Johnson. In May 2017, a memorial golf tournament was held to raise funds for the Foundation. Chopper was a volunteer firefighter in the Yankton Fire Department for almost 40 years. The fund was created to assist those in need in the Yankton area, especially nonprofit organizations that help those affected by fire.

Gift of Life Fund To provide financial support to Upper Midwest Procurement Organization as designated by the donor.

Graceland Cemetery Fund To provide financial support to Hitchcock Methodist Church to support the charitable purposes of the Graceland Cemetery.

Barbara & Duane Harms Family Fund To provide financial support to charitable and nonprofit purposes at the recommendation of the donor.

Charles & Kathryn Hart Family Fund To provide financial support to charitable and nonprofit purposes at the recommendation of the donor.

Huron High School Class of 1967 Scholarship Fund To provide financial support to graduates of Huron High School.

Huron Regional Medical Center Foundation Endowment To provide financial support to Huron Regional Medical Center Foundation.

Chopper Johnson Foundation To provide financial support to charitable and nonprofit purposes in the Yankton area at the recommendation of a local Board of Directors.

Vern Jones Fund To provide financial support to charitable and nonprofit purposes in the Sturgis area at the recommendation of the First Interstate Greater Sturgis Area Fund.

Francis Kawi & Leona Kawi Scholarship Fund To provide financial support to graduates of Philip High School.

Khrista’s Kloset Foundation To provide financial support to Khrista’s Kloset at the Boys & Girls Club of Yankton, SD as designated by the donor.

William Konold Music Scholarship Fund To provide financial support to graduates of Deuel High School.

Larson Family Charitable Fund To provide financial support to charitable and nonprofit purposes at the recommendation of the donor.

Larson Family Feeding South Dakota Fund To provide financial support to Feeding South Dakota as designated by the donor.

Larson Family Unrestricted Grants Fund To provide financial support to charitable and nonprofit purposes as recommended by the South Dakota Community Foundation Board of Directors.

Bruce H. & Deanna B. Lien Rapid City Arts Council Challenge Fund To provide financial support to charities as designated by the donor.

Trent Matt Memorial Scholarship Fund To provide financial support to graduates of Philip High School.

Ralph & Frances Mitchell Donor Advised Fund To provide financial support to charitable and nonprofit purposes at the recommendation of an advisory committee appointed by the donor. New Funds
