This issue, guest curated by Josh Bergasse, celebrates the craft of choreography and the artists who create it, their processes and approach to the craft, early influences, relationships with collaborators, and more. The issue includes a conversation between longtime collaborators Jerry Mitchell and Harvey Fierstein; an interview with Rich + Tone Talauega, conducted by SDC Foundation Director Dani Barlow; a discussion between Annie-B Parson and Sam Pinkleton; and essays by directors on choreographers—Julie Taymor on Garth Fagan and Talvin Wilks on Carmen de Lavallade. The magazine also includes a roundtable with choreographers whose careers began in the concert dance world (Ayodele Casel, Michelle Dorrance, Daniel Ezralow, and David Neumann), moderated by Kitty McNamee; and “Choreographers on Collaboration,” reflections by Robb Hunter, Denis Jones, Danny Mefford, Darrell Grand Moultrie, Mayte Natalio, Adesola Osakalumi, Jennifer Paulson-Lee, Steve Rankin, Misha Shields, Katie Spelman, and Anthony Van Laast.
