Welcome back from study break As we welcome you back from study break, we hope you spent your time catching up with studies.

Your campus teams spent the study break catching up on some personal development to help each and every student on campus and via other methods of communication.

Remember to keep updated with important campus communication via your student email. Also make sure to update your personal contact details if they have changed via your mySCU. Each Friday afternoon we are hosting Q&A sessions to help all students with any questions you may have. Head to your Campus Facebook for the link to join these sessions.

Recipient of the Nathan Asher ScholarWe would like to highlight one of our amazing students from our Melbourne campus. At the start of Session 2 2020 Melbourne student Neha Patrabansha, applied for and was successful in attaining the Nathan Asher Student Experience Scholarship.

Attaining this scholarship just goes to show the high level of Neha’s academic achievement the past sessions and on campus activity of Neha since joining SCU Melbourne. Neha continues to show leadership on campus from working after hours at the Melbourne campus assisting students with any questions and who need any assistance with campus materials.

This shows the strong leadership skills which Neha attributes has been able to being developed during her time at SCU Melbourne. SCU strives to help foster students to achieve the most out of their time with the University.

The Nathan Asher Student Experience Scholarship, supports one postgraduate student and one undergraduate student of have contributed to the student to the student experience at a metropolitan branch campus (Melbourne,Sydney Peth).

This scholarship as in her own words “is one way a student can help continue to achieve high results in your studies”.

We would like to congratulate Neha in her amazing achievement in gaining the Nathan Asher Student Experience scholarship and wish you the best continuing to be an amazing student, leader and mentor to other students.

A Message from Dr Hosein Gharavi You are halfway there!

Congratulations and well done for completing the first half of Session 2, 2020. It certainly has been an exciting and challenging session so far.

The second half of the session generally is a critical time to prepare for and write to complete your major assessments on time. The submission of major assessments is crucial in that these assessments carry marks, and their submission is mandatory to be able to sit for the final assessment.

I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you some thoughts and tips to continue performing in your studies or catch up with what you missed in the first half of the session: Spend at least 2 hours a day reading and collecting material and citations for your assessments.

As a follow-up, make sure you write a minimum of 300 words of review and/or discussion per day as part of preparing for your assessment.

Ensure you review the Academic Integrity Module of SCU Library so that you are fully aware of what constitutes academic misconduct. The link to the page on academic learning at SCU can be found at https://www.scu.edu.au/ learning-zone/ Contact your Campus Learning Advisors to seek advice and help with problems you have in preparing for and completing your assessment.

Attendance in the second half of the session is critical in preparing for a pass and completion of the unit. Most of the units have revision sessions delivered in this half of the session around weeks 11 to 13. Therefore attending your classes will significantly help in preparing you for your final exam or final assessments.

You have done well so far in keeping your focus towards achieving your goal in this session â&#x20AC;&#x201C; successful completing of your unit and attaining a grade that you can be proud of. It is now time to push forward and move on to your goal. Remember that we are here to assist and support you along your way. As Colin Powell famously said: "A dream does not become a reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work".

Best of luck and keep on working towards your dreams.

As they say in self-help literature, life is not a spectator sport. Get involved. Ask questions. Satisfy your curiosity. Pose challenges to those at the top of the system. Get the help and attention you need. Use your voice in the service of your own needs as well as the needs of your fellow students.
