Character, experimentation, unpredictability, and style are the keywords that characterize a collection developed around layerings and asymmetries. Laura, you are a beautiful, talented and spontaneous woman. What is your relationship with beauty?

With beauty I have a fairly peaceful relationship; and then, like all women, I go by periods, even depending on my mood. I have always respected myself, respected the cycles of life, I do. I like to treat myself, keep myself in shape, so somehow I know that I give my best to be the way it is right to be from my point of view.

Coco Chanel once said that a woman who cuts her hair is in the process of changing her life. Do you agree? And have you ever had to mark a major change with a drastic haircut? Well, I have to say that I change my hair style often even if I don’t have any life changes because, due to script requirements, I clearly have to lend my image to the character I play, so it happens to me frequently. I must say, though, that yes, I do agree. It happens especially to us women. When we go through a change we also want to see ourselves as different, so often the first thing we change is our haircuts or hair color.

Is there a look you love but have never had the courage to adopt as your own?

Well, I have to say that I have changed a number of looks. I’ve had Viking hair shaved below and long at the top. I’ve been blonde, brunette. I’ve worn bobs, long hair with extensions. I really like to play with my hair, partly because my job allows me to do so. Otherwise I would risk being much more boring but only for a matter related to keeping it healthy. I have to say, though, that maybe one look that I haven’t yet had the courage to wear is a dark color, black... that really intrigues me. I haven’t exactly had the courage, maybe because I’m afraid that then the hair will be damaged and I would like to keep it healthy all the time.

Laura, tu eres una mujer muy guapa, talentosa y espontánea. ¿Qué relación tienes con la belleza?

Con la belleza tengo una relación bastante pacífica, está claro que, como todas la mujeres, tengo mis momentos, también dependiendo del humor. Siempre me he respetado, he respetado los ciclos de la vida, los respeto. Rocco Blasioli, you are SCREEN Artistic Director and you took your first steps in the hairstyling industry by traveling the world and recording work experiences in Europe first, in Glasgow, London and Paris, and then in the United States. Your life unfolds between the province and the metropolis in a continuous exchange. What do you carry within you of one and the other?

A chameleon-like ability to adapt and be open to the unexpected. Certainly, I am constantly immersed in very different realities, but what I have learned from this experience is the need to strip away any prejudices. It may sound absurd, but one is constantly amazed by attitudes of openness to unexpected novelty and professionalism found in the least suspicious contexts.

In your years of direct experience in the field of research, on stage and in the salon, what is the most interesting evolution you have seen in the world of hairstyling?

Actually, I do not feel like talking about a single evolution, because our work constantly experiences multiple evolutions that are indispensable life oxygen for a business. The work of a hairstylist could also run the risk, for instance, of falling into a routine, which is why, as trainers, we are always looking for technical and stylistic innovations that in the salon thrill the professionals who perform them and the clients who perceive them as loyalty-enhancing changes. Moreover, I am convinced that the most interesting evolutions are precisely those that we live within ourselves, and that also need the contribution of others to discover and manifest themselves.

En realidad, no puedo hablar de una sola evolución, porque nuestro trabajo vive constantemente múltiples evoluciones que son el oxígeno indispensable para la vida de un negocio. El trabajo de hairstylist también podría correr el riesgo, por ejemplo, de caer en una rutina, por eso, como formadores, siempre buscamos novedades técnicas y estilísticas que en el salón entusiasmen a los profesionales que las realizan y para que las clientes las perciban como novedades fidelizantes.
