Learn about what is happening in Santa Clara for adults age 50+ at this annual outdoor event in Fremont Park. Explore over 50 community booths, take part in free screenings, gather resources, discover services and enjoy a tasty BBQ lunch amongst family, neighbors and friends.

Free concert series presented by the Santa Clara Cultural Commission. Additional Friday evenings throughout the summer to be announced. Bring blanket or lawn chairs and get ready to dance. Food available for purchase.
July 4, 12–5 p.m. at Central Park
Celebrate Independence Day at the All City Picnic! Bring the whole family and enjoy carnival games, swimming, food, community booths, live entertainment and more.
September 16 and 17 at Central
This popular family festival will feature over 165 artists, delicious food, craft beer and fine wine, Kids Kingdom, continuous live entertainment on two stages and much more. Proceeds support local charities.

The Parks & Recreation Department uses an online registration portal. Easily find what you’re looking for with searching by keyword, age, day, time, location, or instructor. Sign in or create a new account at SantaClaraCA.gov/ActiveNet. No additional fees are charged for online registration.

• Once registration opens, move your wish list over to your cart and complete enrollment process.
Age: Registrants must provide their birth date and be the correct age within two weeks of the class starting. Proof of age may be required and must be provided upon request.

Class Attendance: Attendance is limited to individuals enrolled in the program. Participants may not make up classes which they have missed; fees cannot be pro-rated for classes missed.
Course Cancellations: Refunds will be granted if a course is canceled by Parks & Recreation.
Course Enrollment: Registration not accepted at class. Courses not reaching their minimum enrollment will be canceled. If you are enrolled in a class and decide not to attend, contact the CRC at least 7 days in advance of start date. This will allow people on the waiting list to be called.
Course Withdrawals/Transfers: Course withdrawals or transfers must be requested at least 7 days prior to the start of class; subject to supervisor’s approval if less than 7 days before start of class.
Liability Waiver: To register you will need to agree to the liability waiver. Waiver is available on the registration portal or on SantaClaraCA.gov/ RecClasses
No Class/Holiday Dates: The City’s fiscal year 2022/2023 operating budget includes periodic facility closures and recreation office level of service reductions. In addition, the City has several holiday closures. The reductions will help to address revenue shortfalls:

Photographic Release: The City of Santa Clara Parks & Recreation Department reserves the right to photograph and/or video tape department classes, activities, events, and participants for brochures or other publicity.
Proof of Residency: Current proof of Santa Clara residency or Santa Clara Unified School District status is required to register as a resident. Applicable proof: preprinted check, valid driver’s license, utility bill, or S.C.U.S.D. report card from the last 30 days.
Waiting Lists: Wait lists are created for filled classes. You may place yourself on a wait list for a filled class online or by calling the CRC for assistance. If a space becomes available, you will be contacted.
This program encourages social development through group activities and play. Each day consists of circle time, craft, songs, story time, indoor and outdoor play which are essential in the development of fine and gross motor skills, and much more. Weekly themes and variety of activities provide the basis of learning and helps keep each child engaged. Participants must be 3 years-old by Sep. 1 of the current school year.

Activities focus on kindergarten readiness through counting, handwriting, sequence of days, music, arts, crafts, outdoor play and more. Building confidence, encouraging exploration and creative learning are key components of Adventures in Learning. Participants must be 4 years-old by Sep. 1 of the current school year.

The following classes will be performing in the Spring Dance Recital scheduled for Friday, May 19 and Saturday, May 20. The Recital will be held at the Community Recreation Center, 969 Kiely Blvd. Class fee includes payment for costume and tickets for the show.
Ballet & Tap is a great class for dancers to gain balance and grace while having a great time! Participants will learn basic tap steps including shuffles, flaps, and rhythm combinations, as well as elementary ballet movements such as pliés, jetés, and pirouettes.

Let your dancer learn how to tumble and twirl in this fun combination dance class! Participants will learn elementary ballet technique, including pliés, jetés, and pirouettes, along with acrobatic movements that will help your dancer gain flexibility and coordination.

Perfect stepping-stone from Pre-Ballet to Ballet I, or ideal for the dancer who has never taken ballet before. New dancers will learn the basics so they can advance with a solid understanding of ballet terms, positions, and steps. Dancers with a basic foundation will learn more terms and steps as well as master their positions.

Explore musical concepts through circle singing games, dancing, chants, improvisations, instruments, and play. It’s a Kodaly-based program that instills a love of music while teaching basic music literacy. Singing a rich repertoire of folk music is used to develop the musical ear. Build skills in sight singing and ear training through solfége (do re mi). CD and songbook included so children may practice at home.

The imagination is where everything begins! Spark your child’s imagination with this high-quality creative dramatics class. Children explore creativity through interactive storytelling and improvisational games. Behind the excitement and fun of acting out the adventures of classic stories are the educational benefits of this program. Participants gain self-confidence and learn to cooperate with others while stimulating their imaginations and enjoying physical exercise. Children must be able to leave their parents with ease.

Come learn the Martial Art of Shotokan Karate. Juniors will focus on manners, listening skills, following directions, and cooperation with others. We work to improve your child’s balance, coordination, speed and agility. Basic skills are taught at a developmentally appropriate level. Participants will learn how to properly make a fist, how to punch, block and kick. Work with a partner and learn some of our very basic self-defense grabs.

The fun happens on the field, so don’t watch from the sidelines! Here is your chance to join in your toddler’s introduction to the world’s most popular sport. Classes focus on listening and social skills, coordination development, body awareness and basic gymnastics skills. The program allows participants to build strength and increase self-confidence. Learn handstands and cartwheels on the floor exercise, swing on the high bar and rings, jump on the trampoline and much more. Class teaches the fundamentals of gymnastics including and introduction to all men’s Olympic gymnastics apparatuses.
Girls Rec I Ages: 6–15
Class aims to develop overall body awareness, strength, flexibility, conditioning, and self-esteem. Participants are introduced to all gymnastics apparatuses for their age, level and appropriate skill progression.
Girls Rec II/III Ages: 6–15
Class aims to develop overall body awareness, strength, flexibility, conditioning, and self-esteem. Participants have mastered basic gymnastics skills and movement in the Level 1 program. Classes focus on building strength, flexibility, and progressive gymnastics skills on all Olympic Gymnastics Events.

The Senior Center provides a safe, positive, and welcoming environment. Programs and services are geared towards the adult community, ages 50 and up, for various abilities and life stages. The City of Santa Clara is committed to providing low-cost programs that help maintain or increase health & wellness, reduce isolation, and provide referrals to resources.
Patrons must sign-in at the front desk using a current Senior Center Card or Membership, to join activities and/or receive necessary equipment.
The Senior Center offers two membership levels, a basic and premium which include different levels of access to programs and services across the City. Patrons may choose the appropriate membership based on interest. Memberships will be renewed at the new levels when a patron’s membership expires. Scholarships will be made available for those who qualify. Current Senior Cards benefits are valid through expiration date

The 3,000 square foot area is equipped with cardio, weight training, and core strength and stretching zones. Users of the Fitness Center must possess and present a current Resident Senior Center Card or Premium Membership.

The Natatorium consists of three indoor pools 1) Lap Pool; 2) Warm Water Pool; 3) Warm-up Pool. The pools provide the opportunities for aquatic exercise, stretching, and low impact/slow muscle movement. It is staffed by certified lifeguards and classes are taught by aquatic instructors. Users of the Natatorium must possess and present a current Senior Center Card or Premium Membership Card at check-in.
• Health & Wellness Program — Blood pressure screenings, health education and navigation, care management, resources, and referrals.
Persons interested in the drop-in swim hours need to possess a Premium Senior Center Membership Card, or a current Senior Center Card.
This fun full-body workout to music includes strengthening, stretching and conditioning with water exercise equipment provided. Water workouts are good for everyone, improving strength, coordination, and balance. You don’t need to be a swimmer, as your head stays above the water.

The BackHab program focuses on relearning functional movement patterns with carryover to activities of daily living. Progressions are included to further challenge qualities such as balance, coordination, endurance, trunk stability and gait. Precautions and modifications are addressed. No footwear is allowed in pool.

This shallow water workout delivers training options designed to target the fitness components of agility, balance, coordination, speed, and cardio-respiratory capacity. Use all the unique properties of the water to challenge movements while focusing on proper body mechanics and postural alignment.

Water walking is a stunningly powerful low impact workout. Water provides many beneficial properties such as resistance, assistance, drag, and turbulence. Tone and strengthen your body, improve balance, posture, agility, and coordination. Class is sweat and hairstyle proof. No previous experience needed. Participants must be able to walk and be independent.

Can you sew a straight line, hand stitch, or stuff batting? We could use your talents! Sometimes when a loved one passes, we wish we could give them just one more hug. Help give those hugs to families by sewing pillows or bears from a favorite garment of their family member who is gone. We meet monthly on the third Monday of the month unless there is a holiday. Stretch, Observe, and Strengthen your way to decrease the risk of falling. Improve overall health and quality of life by learning to rebalance how your body works from within. Chairs will be used as props while sitting or standing. Each class ends with guided, meditative relaxation. Class accommodates the needs of those with mobility challenges (walkers, wheelchairs, etc.).

Get your mats out, we’re getting on the floor! Learn and practice how to get down onto and up from the floor using a chair. Tai Chi is a slow, gentle, flowing martial art promoting balance, flexibility, strength, and clarity. This is an entry level class for those new to Tai Chi.
