AUGMENTED REALITY Augmented Reality (AR) is a step between the physical world and the virtual world that uses your phone to see computer-generated images around you. Before heading down to the Scottsdale Waterfront, download the Hoverlay app. When you’re near a Canal Convergence AR activation point, open the app, select one of the experiences below, and play! For more information or help using Hoverlay, visit the Augmented Reality FAQ page at CanalConvergence.com or visit the Nationwide Innovation Zone at the event.
Art Permanent Collection are enhanced with augmented reality elements. These AR elements include additional information about the artworks from the artists, Scottsdale Public Art staff, and others associated with the artworks.
Visit one of the three augmented realityinfused murals (see pages 10–11 for more information about the art) by local artist Isaac Caruso, open the Hoverlay app, and watch “characters” from the mural come to life before your eyes. The three murals are connected by a narrative thread and, in some cases, an AR thread, where character activations create a visual path to the next mural. The first mural is located at Canal Convergence; the second is inside Scottsdale Fashion Square, near the lululemon store; and the third mural is at Scottsdale Civic Center, and will only be on the last day of Canal Convergence as part of the lululemon 10K race on Sunday, Nov. 12. The project is a result of a creative partnership between Canal Convergence and event partners lululemon and Scottsdale Fashion Square. Visit CanalConvergence.com for more information on the collaboration and mural locations.
