History of the course Initially called the Finchley, Golf, Sports and Social Club Ltd. The Club was founded by a group of keen golfers who persuaded Finchley Council to purchase land for a new course.

Using the imposing Nether Court mansion as the Clubhouse, the founders approached one of the greatest course architects of the age, 5 times Open Champion James Braid who designed a very challenging course around the house.

The construction of the course started in August 1929, with golf first being played on the ten holes nearest the Clubhouse from the end of May 1930. Last minute changes to some of the front nine holes delayed the opening of the full course until 18th October 1930.

The Club thrived from the beginning with an active membership enjoying many golfing and social activities.

The fountain sits between the 11th green and the 12th fairway and operates during major events.

The course The tranquil par 72, 18 hole course is laid out in mature parkland and is regarded as the finest golfing challenge in North London.

There are slopes on many of the fairways and on the greens; with 4 par 5s, 4 par 3s and 10 par 4s the 6,356 yard course itself plays fairly tight overall. To play the course well therefore requires a player to find relatively small landing areas. The greens are renowned locally for their quick pace, trueness and excellent condition.

Corporate membership A selection of corporate membership options designed to meet the business needs of corporate clients. Corporate membership provides companies with access to one of the leading golf courses in North London, whilst providing a unique opportunity to experience corporate hospitality in a warm and friendly environment.

Corporate affiliates In addition to corporate membership, corporate affiliates can join as full members for a special discounted rate of 66% of their membership category.

This membership will allow the member to enjoy all the benefits of full membership, including unlimited tee times and entry to all competitions.

Clubhouse The Clubhouse was built by a wealthy Victorian businessman, Henry Thomas Tubbs as a home for him and his family between 1880 and 1883.

Named Nether Court it was described in local history as “the largest Victorian house built in Hendon Parish� and, because it was built as a private family home, contributes much to the present feel of the Club.

Some of the original features include the Dining Room, Saloon, Hall and Main Staircase with its stained glass windows.

Venue The Blue Room A stately, naturally lit setting for meetings, seminars, conferences and for family celebrations, weddings, civil partnerships, christenings, parties and funerals. There is a raised podium at one end of the room for speakers and presenters. The Blue Room is regularly used by local businesses, charities and networking organisations. The room measures 19' x 35' and comfortably seats 70.
