I believe that social skills like relatability, affability, humility, and reliability can take an individual just as far in life as raw intelligence. My education has primarily focused on architecture (resulting in a B.A. in the Built Environment and a M.Arch from ASU) I also consciously diversified my education by taking courses from other design disciplines that included; industrial design, planning, urban design, landscape architecture, design history/theory, interior design and psychology. Personal/Professional experience in architecture and urban design projects include: • Serving as the Architectural Designer for a dual IP Package on NBCUniversal’s new $6-8 Billion Theme Park in Beijing, China. • Serving as the Project Architect on over 80 Target Innovation Remodels and Starbucks remodels for Target Corp. • Design and renovation of art gallery and full-scale performance theater for the city of Fort Worth, TX. • Architectural concept design as well as comprehensive master plan for the town of Marana, AZ. • Comprehensive master plan for the Downtown East neighborhood involving the Minnesota Vikings new stadium development in Minneapolis, MN. • Comprehensive master plan for an undeveloped plot of land located between Lincoln Drive, Indian Bend Road and Scottsdale Road situated in both Paradise Valley and Scottsdale, AZ. • Small community kitchen and urban garden for the DC Ranch community in North Scottsdale, AZ. • Sustainable and affordable mixed-use housing development along the LRT on Central Avenue in downtown Phoenix, AZ. • Research, analysis and a viability study on a possible redevelopment of the historical Hayden Flour Mill on Mill Avenue in Tempe, AZ. • Renovation, addition and visualization of Phoenix Municipal Baseball Park for Arizona State University in Phoenix, AZ. • Renovation, addition and programming of Eller School of Management for University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. • Renovation and addition of Gould Evans new architectural office in Phoenix, AZ.
The selected projects help me to understand architecture and design at a comprehensive level of scales ranging from my smallest design project at only 600 square feet to the largest being over 13,000,000 square feet. As far as my personal skills go I am extensively versed and offer unparalleled skills in 3D computer modeling (Primarily using Sketchup). I believe technologies that are here today like BIM (Building Information Modeling) should create a more innovative and efficient process within the practices of architecture, design and construction. My design philosophy often centers on an attitude of hedonistic architecture for the client. I ask myself at the outset of a project “What are the human desires in play here? How can we enhance and tap into those desires? And how can we enrich people’s/client’s lives and the local community with our projects?”. Thank You For Your Time And Consideration, I Look Forward To Hearing From You Scott Johnson
