Our role
What is the ultimate purpose of a school? And how can we best prepare young people for the world that awaits?
For us, it’s about showing our boys and girls first what’s possible and then empowering them to ‘become’ the possibility; to discover and at the same time unearth what’s around and within them.
This is what the school experience is all about; where the real value lies.

In fact, real, is a word you’ll hear us use often around here.
Why?
We believe ‘real’ speaks to the dynamic, joyous and imperfect – sometimes even messy - nature of learning. It means you’ll find us talking about the humanity of education, the value of laughter, the importance of happiness and equally the need for our boys and girls to experience challenge and discomfort too.
It means we’ll have great conversations, honest conversations and sometimes tough conversations.
Why we exist.
But most importantly, in being real and true to who we are and what we stand for as a school, we show our boys and girls that they can be their real selves too.
It also means we don’t talk about the school experience in a compartmental kind-of-way.

Rather, we recognise that big learning often occurs across small moments or in unexpected places at unpredictable times. And while what our boys and girls do at school is important, how they experience it is what matters most.
So, where others may choose to speak primarily in ‘programs’ – about what they do – you’ll find us talking more about what we value first.
We believe this provides the insight needed to better understand how we facilitate learning, build relationships and what it feels like to be part of our school.
