A conversation with the Head of College Mr John Weeks Student Wellbeing and Support at Scots All Saints Providing support to all children in schools has become increasingly complex over the past 20 years. There are many issues impacting on our modern world, not just for school-aged young people, but for everyone. Over the past two years, we have been building our programs and staffing to better support student wellbeing at the school level. There are a number of components to this which cover the emotional, physical and spiritual aspects in our model. 1. Building student resilience through positive psychology programs which are age appropriate. These programs are now embedded K-10. a. K-4 – Bounce Back! b. 6-8 – You can do it! c. 9-10 – Invictus The above programs are scientifically researched and approved to develop strong mental health, promoting resilience and a strong sense of value, purpose and meaning. 2. Trained and empowered staff Staff training to enable professional delivery of our programs is important. Forty-five staff across our campuses have now achieved accreditation in this field. 3. Counselling support The College counselling/psychology staff increases to three this week, with the arrival of Ms Maddie Fooks. Maddie joins Senior College Counsellor, Ellen Robinson and Psychologist, Jennifer Molinari in this field.

Campus East (Scots) Senior School, Boarding (Years 9-12) 4173 O’Connell Road BATHURST NSW 2795

Campus West (Saints) Preparatory School, Junior School (Years K–4), Middle School, Boarding (Years 5-8) 70 Eglinton Road BATHURST NSW 2795

4. Clinical support Across our campuses we now have employed three nurses supporting a range of needs. We welcome Kate Burge to join Belinda Lesh and Melanie Abel on the team. 5. Beliefs and values Our Christian Studies program K-12 is extremely well resourced to enable students to study, discuss and understand God’s love and purpose for their loves. This year the College appointed its first full-time Chaplain in Rev. Michael Bennett, who takes a leading role in encouraging our students and supporting them in their walk through the school years. It’s a big team which actually supplements the pastoral care team of teaching and boarding staff who work with your children every day. Our team is growing to meet the needs of our Community and our plan is to bring them physically together in the Wellbeing Centres on our two campuses in 2022. COVID-19 Lockdown extended until 11 September 2021 NSW Health announced today that the current lockdown restrictions will be extended until 11 September 2021. During this time online learning will continue. As always, if you have any questions please contact those staff members leading the various teams of teachers across our campuses.
